Abstract: An implant system presented herein includes an engagement wire, a pull wire, and a braided implant having a distal ring thereon. The engagement wire has an elongated member with a radially extending engagement feature at its distal end. The braid can be moved from a delivery shape sized to traverse a catheter to an implanted shape sized to occlude an aneurysm neck. When the braid is in the delivery shape, the pull wire and the elongated member extend through the distal ring and the engagement feature is in a distal direction in relation to the distal ring. Once at least a portion of the braid is positioned in the aneurysm, the pull wire and the elongated member can be moved in a proximal direction to engage the engagement feature to the distal ring and move the distal ring proximally, thereby reshaping the braid within the aneurysm.

Abstract: The invention features methods and devices for controlling bleeding from blood vessels that may be damaged as a result of trauma or impact with an object, such as a bullet or shrapnel. The device may be wearable by a user and include one or more components, such as wound sealant and multiple inflatable balloons/bladders. The device may be integrated into a garment, e.g., a vest, jacket, trousers, or full body suit. Once triggered (automatically or manually), the device may be used to deliver wound sealant to a wound site and/or pressure to the wound site by selective inflation of one or more balloons over exsanguinating blood vessels that may be damaged, thereby stopping or minimizing the bleeding. Alternatively, or in addition, the device may be used to stabilize a wounded wearer for, e.g., transportation purposes, or to provide buoyancy. Devices of the invention may also be used as a blood pressure monitor, as a massaging device, and as a breast pump.

In some embodiments, the locking device has three settings, an automatic mode setting (soft locked position), a manual mode setting (hard locked position), and a neutral mode setting (unlocked position). In some embodiments, the locking device has two settings, a manual mode setting (hard locked position) and a neutral mode setting (unlocked position).

Abstract: A rod reducer includes a shaft, a sleeve assembly defining a bore dimensioned to receive the shaft therethrough, a housing defining a bore dimensioned to receive the shaft, arm members operatively associated with the housing, and an anvil operatively coupled with the shaft. The sleeve assembly includes a locking tab. The housing includes a groove configured to selectively receive the locking tab of the sleeve assembly. The housing includes a locking ledge portion in registration with the groove. The anvil is transitionable between a proximal position, in which, the arm members are spaced apart, and a distal position, in which, the arm members are in an approximated position. The sleeve assembly is rotatable between an engaged state in which, the locking ledge portion inhibits relative axial displacement of the sleeve assembly with the housing, and a disengaged state in which, the sleeve assembly is axially movable relative to the housing.

Abstract: An embodiment of the invention provides for a system, such as a cervical plate fusion system, that has mechanisms for preventing bone anchors (e.g., screws, pins, and the like) from backing out of the plate. The system prevents both counter-rotation of the screw and axial backing out of the screw. Other embodiments are described herein.

Abstract: A surgical implant assembly includes a plate having at least one aperture extending through the plate and having a central axis. A screw includes a head and a body, with the head including at least one head thread configured to engage with the plate at the aperture and the body including at least one body thread configured to engage a bone material. The at least one head thread has a first pitch and the at least one body thread has a second pitch that is different than the first pitch. When the plate is disposed at a surface of the bone material and the screw is rotatably driven into the bone material, the pitch difference enables the plate to one selected from the group consisting of (i) lift away from the surface of the bone material and (ii) compress down onto the surface of the bone material.

Abstract: A locking system can comprise a screw head without threads and a thread created only inside a bore of a bone plate. The machining of thread geometry can thus pertain to the screw body, while the screw head can be formed by curved surfaces and contact surfaces by simple machining process. A plurality of screws can be implemented, and each bone plate can have a larger number of bores for accepting the screws than the number of screws. The said locking screw can be used with other bone plates having continuous or partial threads created inside their bores.

Abstract: A torque tightening device having a gripping handle, an axial rod associated with the gripping handle and arranged to carry a tightening tool and containing a rigid body. A peripheral ring mounted on a fluted tube has a spiral thread, onto which is threaded an end tip of the body, in the form of a threaded bushing, the thread of which is complementary to the thread engaged with same. The peripheral ring is linked to the fluted tube and the end tip is linked to the body. The two threads link the fluted tube and the body. Rotation of the body causes the fluted tube to move in a linear manner. In practice, each “click” of the mechanism moves the fluted tube, for example, a fraction of a turn, and causes the two elements to move axially relative to each other, to disconnect the gripping handle and the axial rod.
