Publication number: 20210145299Abstract: Method and systems are provided for reliable, convenient, self-administered, and cost-effective determination of central venous pressure. The noninvasive method and apparatus use changes in transmural pressure to create detectable changes in peripheral venous vascular volume for the determination of central venous pressure. Transmural pressure changes can be manifested by intravascular or extravascular pressure changes. The system is noninvasive and uses optical measurements of venous volume in the presence of transmural pressure changes. The relationship between the transmural pressure change and the change in vascular venous volume is combined with anatomical measurements to determine the central venous pressure of the subject. Central venous pressure can be used to determine hemodynamic status of the subject to include fluid overload in the heart failure patient.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 11, 2020Publication date: May 20, 2021Inventors: Mark Ries Robinson, Elena A. Publication number: 20210145342Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems and methods for locating and identifying nerves innervating the wall of arteries such as the renal artery. The present invention identifies areas on vessel walls that are innervated with nerves; provides indication on whether energy is delivered accurately to a targeted nerve; and provides immediate post-procedural assessment of the effect of energy delivered to the nerve. The methods include evaluating a change in physiological parameters after energy is delivered to an arterial wall; and determining the type of nerve that the energy was directed to (sympathetic or parasympathetic or none) based on the evaluated results. The system includes at least a device for delivering energy to the wall of blood vessel; sensors for detecting physiological signals from a subject; and indicators to display results obtained using said method. Also provided are catheters for performing the mapping and ablating functions.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 29, 2021Publication date: May 20, 2021Inventor: Jie WANG

Publication number: 20210145344Abstract: The signal quality of an electrophysiological signal can be determined from information regarding proximal stability of an electrophysiology catheter at the time the signal is acquired and temporal stability of the electrophysiological signal. The proximal stability information can include a distance between the electrophysiology catheter and an anatomical surface, a velocity of the electrophysiology catheter, and/or contact force between the electrophysiology catheter and the anatomical surface. Graphical representations of signal quality scores can be output to a display in order to enable visualization thereof by a practitioner.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 11, 2018Publication date: May 20, 2021Inventors: Jan O. Publication number: 20210145347Abstract: A device and a signal processing method that can monitor human memory performance by recognizing and characterizing high-gamma (65-250 Hz) and beta (14-30 Hz) band oscillations in the left Brodmann Area 40 (BA40) of the brain that correspond with the strength of memory encoding or correct recall. The signal processing method detects high-gamma and beta band oscillations in the electrical signals recorded from left BA40, and quantifies the spectral content, power, duration, onset, and offset of the oscillations. The oscillation's properties are used to classify the subject's memory performance on the basis of a comparison with the subject's prior human memory performance and the properties of the corresponding oscillations. A report of the subject's current memory performance can be utilized in a closed loop brain stimulation device that serves the purpose of enhancing human memory performance.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 13, 2018Publication date: May 20, 2021Applicant: Thomas Jefferson UniversityInventors: Shennan Aibel Weiss, Zachary Waldman, Michael Sperling
