  • Patent number: 11103164
Abstract: Methods and systems for sensor calibration and sensor glucose (SG) fusion are used advantageously to improve the accuracy and reliability of orthogonally redundant glucose sensor devices, which may include optical and electrochemical glucose sensors. Calibration for both sensors may be achieved via fixed-offset and/or dynamic regression methodologies, depending, e.g., on sensor stability and Isig-Ratio pair correlation. For SG fusion, respective integrity checks may be performed for SG values from the optical and electrochemical sensors, and the SG values calibrated if the integrity checks are passed. Integrity checks may include checking for sensitivity loss, noise, and drift. If the integrity checks are failed, in-line sensor mapping between the electrochemical and optical sensors may be performed prior to calibration.

  • Patent number: 11103167
Abstract: Presented are systems and methods that perform noninvasive glucose monitoring using mid-infrared self-emission of the human body that acts as a background radiation emitter. Various embodiments accomplish this by taking advantage of the guided-mode resonance (GMR) effect in a number of bandpass filters that are constructed as an array of coplanar filters. The filter array acts as a spectral separator that uses a grating layer and a thin film waveguide to form reflection and transmission filters for particular wavelengths. Unlike, common multi-layer optical filter designs that utilize numerous individual optical filters, a novel GMR filter design comprises an array of filters that may be fabricated from CMOS-compatible materials using only a few thin film and grating layers to filter light. Advantageously, this reduces manufacturing cost and allows for simultaneous monitoring of a number of wavelengths of the glucose spectrum.

  • Patent number: 11103170
Abstract: A safety needle device includes a housing including a passageway with a needle cannula extending therefrom. A shielding member is movable between a first position in which a puncture tip of the needle cannula is exposed therefrom and a second position in which the puncture tip of the needle cannula is encompassed therein. The shielding member is maintained in the first position against a biasing force which biases the shielding member toward the second position. A fluid and/or a temperature activation material is associated with the shielding member and is adapted to deform upon contact with a fluid medium and/or a certain temperature or temperature range. The fluid medium flowing through the needle cannula causes the fluid activation material to deform, such as through expansion, thereby releasing the shielding member from the first position and allowing a drive member to bias the shielding member toward the second position.

  • Patent number: 11103172
Abstract: Devices and methods provide for the sensing of physiological signals during stimulation therapy by preventing stimulation waveform artifacts from being passed through to the amplification of the sensed physiological signal. Thus, the amplifiers are not adversely affected by the stimulation waveform and can provide for successful sensing of physiological signals between stimulation waveform pulses. A blanking switch may be used to blank the stimulation waveform artifacts where the blanking switch is operated in a manner synchronized with the stimulation waveform so that conduction in the sensing path is blocked during the stimulation pulse as well as during other troublesome artifacts such as a peak of a recharge pulse. A limiter may be used to limit the amplitude of the sensed signal, and hence the stimulation artifacts, that are passed to the amplifier without any synchronization of the limiter to the stimulation waveform.
