Abstract: A system of treating atelectasis is provided that includes a tracheal tube positioned within an airway of a ventilated patient and an acoustic sensor coupled to the tracheal tube. The system also includes a monitor communicatively coupled to the acoustic sensor. The monitor includes a processor configured to receive a baseline signal from the acoustic sensor. The processor is configured to provide control instructions to adjust a pressure of a gas mixture delivered to the airway through the tracheal tube. The processor is also configured to receive an updated signal from the acoustic sensor after the adjustment and identify a change in airway openness of lungs of the ventilated patient caused by the adjustment of the pressure. Further, identifying the change is based on the baseline signal and the updated signal.

Abstract: An emergency ventilation system ventilates a patient and includes a chamber housing defining a breathing chamber; a piston; and a motor operably connected to the piston. The motor applies an exhalation force to move the piston in an exhalation direction applies an inhalation force to move the piston in an inhalation direction. The piston increases air in the breathing chamber as the exhalation force is applied and decreases air in the breathing chamber as the inhalation force is applied. An exhalation check valve allows airflow from the air source to the breathing chamber and not to allow airflow from the breathing chamber to the air source as the inhalation force is applied. An inhalation check valve allows airflow from the breathing chamber to the air output and not to allow airflow from the air output to the breathing chamber as the exhalation force is applied.

Abstract: The present invention generally relates to heart treatment systems. In some aspects, methods and systems are provided for facilitating communication between implanted devices. For example, an implantable cardiac rhythm management device may be configured to communicate with an implantable blood pump. The implantable cardiac rhythm management device may deliver heart stimulation rate information in addition to information associated with any detected abnormalities in heart function. In response, the pump may be configured to adjust pumping by the pump to better accommodate a patient's particular needs.

Abstract: The invention relates to a motor housing module (110) for sealing a motor compartment of a motor of a heart support system. The motor housing module (110) has at least one feed-through portion (205), at least one feed-through line (210), and at least one contact pin (215). The feed-through portion (205) is designed to establish an electrical connection between the heart support system and a connection cable in order to externally contact the heart support system. The at least one feed-through line (210) is embedded in the feed-through portion (205) and extends through the feed-through portion (205). The feed-through line (210) can be connected to the motor and to the connection cable. A first end of the at least one contact pin (215) is embedded in the feed-through portion (205) and a second end of the contact pin (215) projects from the feed-through portion (205) on a side facing away from the motor compartment.
