Abstract: A lumbar protection exomuscle is provided that includes of a harness that connects the rear part of the human body, from the shoulders to the feet, held in place, in addition, at the hip and knees, being such points connected successively to each other and in a vertical manner. In a standing position, the device maintains the tension without exerting force, but at the moment of flexion of the hip, the rear area of the thigh and glutes is stretched due to it being to the only elastic zone, thus accumulating a directional force that counteracts the torsions generated in the lumbar area, either at the moment of flexing, in a flexed static position or at the moment of extension.

Abstract: An ophthalmological device comprises a laser source, an application head having focusing optics and a patient interface, a scanner system and circuit. The circuit is configured to control the scanner system to incise an incision surface, which is symmetrical with respect to the central axis of the patient interface, in the eye tissue, a pulsed laser beam being steered onto treatment points on the incision surface on a first treatment path, and the treatment path being curved while extending around the projection axis of the focusing optics. In the event of a tilt of the eye with respect to the central axis of the patient interface, the circuit determines an apex of a tilted incision surface by a co-tilt of the incision surface corresponding to the tilt of the eye, and determines a transformed treatment path, which extends around the apex and determines treatment points on the tilted incision surface.

Abstract: A laser surgical system comprises a laser source, scanners, delivery optics, and a computer. The laser source generates a beam of femtosecond laser pulses. The scanners direct focus spots of the beam towards points of a cornea. The delivery optics focuses the focus spots at the points of the cornea. The computer creates an incision in the cornea by instructing the optics and scanners to: direct and focus the focus spots from a posterior corneal surface, through a convex curve and a concave curve, to an anterior corneal surface to form an S-curve incision with a posterior end and an anterior end. The S-curve incision has a substantially non-planar rectangular shape with a longer side that extends from the posterior end to the anterior end and defines a longer direction. A cross-section of the incision in the longer direction exhibits the convex curve and the concave curve.

Abstract: One of the biggest challenges that a disabled wheelchair user faces when using a wheelchair is getting in and out of the wheelchair. The method most commonly used for getting in or out of a wheelchair is a method using a sliding board. In this method, a user lays the sliding board across a wheelchair seat and a bed and moves across by pushing his or her buttocks. However, the biggest challenge of this method is that the large size of the wheelchair wheels makes it difficult to mount the sliding board on a side surface of the wheelchair, and there is also a high risk of falling while moving. The present invention enables a wheelchair user to easily move large wheelchair wheels rearward without outside assistance by using an armrest of the wheelchair as a lever. Through the present invention, which is lightweight and enables wheelchair users to easily move a wheel rearward by themselves, disabled wheelchair users can easily get in and out of wheelchairs by themselves without outside assistance.

Abstract: A patient transport apparatus transports a patient over a surface. The patient transport apparatus comprises a support structure comprising a base, a patient support surface, and a reference sensor arranged to sense inclination of the support structure. A drive system is coupled to the support structure and operable to propel the patient transport apparatus. A handle assembly is operable by a user to control operation of the drive system. The handle assembly comprises a handle movable relative to the base and a position sensor arranged to sense positioning of the handle. A controller is coupled to the reference sensor and the position sensor, and is adapted to control the drive system in response to signals received from the reference sensor and the position sensor.
