Patent number: 11642634Abstract: The description relates to methods and apparatus that enable the efficient introduction of gases like air, oxygen and ozone into aqueous liquids. Gases are introduced into liquids for making that gas chemically or biologically available at a minimum energy expenditure. Impinging jets of liquid are directed into a pressurized saturation vessel having a gas-filled headspace and a saturation zone below the surface of the liquid at a velocity sufficient to create a turbulent impact and plunge zone. The resulting turbulence and mixing of gas and liquid in that zone under pressure, causes the gas to be driven into the liquid in the vessel and breaks up the gas and the liquid into a churning flow and creates a large number of bubbles. The resulting gas-enriched liquid is discharged from the vessel at an outlet to ensure a minimum of bubbles in the gas-enriched liquid.Type: GrantFiled: February 7, 2021Date of Patent: May 9, 2023Assignee: Fuel Tech, Inc.Inventors: Ronald A. Patent number: 11642673Abstract: A flow cell having at least one storage zone connected to a duct for conducting fluid out of, into or/and through the storage zone. The duct includes a duct section which is delimited by a substrate and a film joined to the substrate and in which the duct is sealed and can be opened at a predetermined breaking point by deflecting the film. The film covers a recess in the substrate which forms the duct section. A sealing wall that seals the duct and is integrally joined to the substrate is placed in the recess. The predetermined breaking point is formed by a breakable joining region between the film and an edge portion of the sealing wall facing the film. The dimensions of a peripheral area of the sealing wall which is formed in the edge portion and runs parallel to the film determine the surface area of the joining region.Type: GrantFiled: November 28, 2018Date of Patent: May 9, 2023Assignee: THINXXS MICROTECHNOLOGY GMBHInventor: Lutz Weber

Patent number: 11642674Abstract: Methods related to forming reaction products on surfaces are generally provided. Some methods comprise applying first and second polyelectrolytes in first and second polyelectrolyte carrier fluids to a surface. The first and second polyelectrolytes may be different, and the first and second carrier fluids may be the same or different. Some methods comprise forming a mixture of the first and second polyelectrolytes in a mixture carrier fluid that comprises the first and/or second carrier fluids. The first and second polyelectrolyte may be removed from the mixture carrier fluid to form a reaction product on the surface. In some embodiments, the mixture carrier fluid comprises a salt with a molecular weight of less than or equal to 1 kg/mol at a concentration within the mixture carrier fluid of from 0.01 M to 0.5 M. In some embodiments, the mixture carrier fluid has a turbidity of greater than or equal to 10 NTU and a viscosity of less than or equal to 1 Pa*s.Type: GrantFiled: July 31, 2020Date of Patent: May 9, 2023Assignee: Massachusetts Institute of TechnologyInventors: Kripa K.
