Abstract: A plant growing appliance includes a cabinet. A tower is rotatably mounted within a grow chamber of the cabinet. The tower has a plurality of grow sections that are circumferentially spaced on the tower. Each of the plurality of grow sections defines a respective plurality of apertures for receiving one or more plant pods. A height of each of the plurality of grow sections is no less than sixty centimeters. A single camera is mounted to cabinet. The single camera is positioned and oriented for capturing an image of the height of each of the plurality of grow sections.

Abstract: A farming method may be shown and described. In an exemplary embodiment, plants may begin in a germination phase. Next, plants are brought to a nursery for a period of time before optionally being transplanted to one or more subsequent nurseries. Plants in the nurseries may be stacked vertically in trays. During the nursery phase, root growth may be optimized. Finally, plants are transplanted to a greenhouse where they may grow until they are ready for harvest. In an exemplary embodiment, the nursery phases may be vertical farms while the greenhouse phase may be a traditional, hydroponic, or other type of farm which may receive sunlight. AI may be implemented to optimize environmental conditions and robotics may be used to harvest the plants.

Abstract: The invention relates to a celery plant (Apium graveolens L. dulce) carrying a genetic determinant that leads to short leaf blades and/or a more uniform distribution of stem lengths as compared to celery plants not carrying the genetic determinant, wherein said determinant is obtainable by introgression from a plant grown from seed of which a representative sample was deposited with the NCIMB under Accession No. NCIMB 41513. The invention also relates to seeds and other propagation material of the plant and to its progeny as well as to food products that comprise the consumable parts of the plant.
