Patent number: 11681896Abstract: In Multi-Policy Decision-Making (MPDM), many computationally-expensive forward simulations are performed in order to predict the performance of a set of candidate policies. In risk-aware formulations of MPDM, only the worst outcomes affect the decision making process, and efficiently finding these influential outcomes becomes the core challenge. Recently, stochastic gradient optimization algorithms, using a heuristic function, were shown to be significantly superior to random sampling. In this disclosure, it was shown that accurate gradients can be computed-even through a complex forward simulation—using approaches similar to those in dep networks. The proposed approach finds influential outcomes more reliably, and is faster than earlier methods, allowing one to evaluate more policies while simultaneously eliminating the need to design an easily-differentiable heuristic function.Type: GrantFiled: July 9, 2021Date of Patent: June 20, 2023Assignee: THE REGENTS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGANInventors: Edwin Olson, Dhanvin H. Patent number: 11681898Abstract: Methods and systems of predicting the growth rate of hydrogen-induced cracking (HIC) in a physical asset (e.g., a pipeline, storage tank, etc.) are provided. The methodology receives a plurality of inputs regarding physical characteristics of the asset and performs parametric simulations to generate a simulated database of observations of the asset. The database is then used to train, test, and validate one or more expert systems that can then predict the growth rate and other characteristics of the asset over time. The systems herein can also generate alerts as to predicted dangerous conditions and modify inspection schedules based on such growth rate predictions.Type: GrantFiled: February 19, 2021Date of Patent: June 20, 2023Assignee: Saudi Arabian Oil CompanyInventors: Abderrazak Traidia, Abdelmounam Sherik

Patent number: 11681900Abstract: Systems and methods include obtaining a set of events, each event in the set of events comprising a time-stamped portion of raw machine data, the raw machine data produced by one or more components within an information technology or security environment and reflects activity within the information technology or security environment. Thereafter, a first neural network is used to automatically identify variable text to extract as a field from the set of events. An indication of the variable text is provided as a field extraction recommendation, for example, to a user device for presentation to a user.Type: GrantFiled: June 15, 2020Date of Patent: June 20, 2023Assignee: Splunk Inc.Inventors: Adam Jamison Oliner, Nghi Huu Nguyen, Jacob Leverich, Zidong Yang

Patent number: 11681901Abstract: A residual estimation with an I/O kernel (“RIO”) framework provides estimates of predictive uncertainty of neural networks, and reduces their point-prediction errors. The process captures neural network (“NN”) behavior by estimating their residuals with an I/O kernel using a modified Gaussian process (“GP”). RIO is applicable to real-world problems, and, by using a sparse GP approximation, scales well to large datasets. RIO can be applied directly to any pretrained NNs without modifications to model architecture or training pipeline.Type: GrantFiled: May 21, 2020Date of Patent: June 20, 2023Assignee: Cognizant Technology Solutions U.S. CorporationInventors: Xin Qiu, Risto Miikkulainen, Elliot Meyerson

Patent number: 11681902Abstract: In one example, a neural network accelerator can execute a set of instructions to: load a first weight data element from a memory into a systolic array, the first weight data element having first coordinates; extract, from the instructions, information indicating a first subset of input data elements to be obtained from the memory, the first subset being based on a stride of a transposed convolution operation and second coordinates of first weight data element in a rotated array of weight data elements; based on the information, obtain the first subset of input data elements from the memory; load the first subset of input data elements into the systolic array; and control the systolic array to perform first computations based on the first weight data element and the first subset of input data elements to generate output data elements of an array of output data elements.Type: GrantFiled: September 27, 2019Date of Patent: June 20, 2023Assignee: Amazon Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Jeffrey T Huynh, Vignesh Vivekraja

Patent number: 11681903Abstract: Systems, methods and apparatus of implementing spiking neural networks. For example, an integrated circuit includes a crossbar array of first memristors connected between wordlines and bitlines. The first memristors are configured to convert voltages applied on the wordlines into currents in the bitlines. Second memristors having thresholds are connected to the bitlines respectively. Each respective memristor in the second memristors can reduce its resistance to cause spiking in a current flowing through the respective memristor, when the current reaches the threshold of the respective memristor. Current level detectors are connected to the second memristors to determine whether the currents in the bitlines have levels corresponding to reaching thresholds of the second memristors and thus, generate output spikes of spiking neurons without using analog-to-digital converters to measure the currents in the bitlines.Type: GrantFiled: October 31, 2019Date of Patent: June 20, 2023Assignee: Micron Technology, Inc.Inventors: Anakha Vasanthakumaribabu, Poorna Kale
