  • Patent number: 11713598
Abstract: The proposed handcuff in the invention employs an innovative locking mechanism, which stops further tightening of the handcuff when the force applied on the wrist of hand or ankle of foot is greater than 1.5 lbs (or any preset value), and prevents physical injuries from over-tightening without compromising the restrain. The handcuff is 50% faster in restraining by automatically locking instead of manually push-to-locking. The handcuff has the same shape/size/cost of the handcuffs currently used by police officer, and is compatible with current training procedure or SOP.

  • Patent number: 11713599
Abstract: A restraint device tailored for law enforcement and military applications. The utility device has a tape section, a handle, and a head. The handle is connected to a proximal end of the tape section and the head is connected to a distal end of the tape section. The restraint device is provided in an expanded state that defines a loop, in which the tape section passes through an aperture in the head. Ideally, the tape section includes a stop that restricts the tape section from freely traveling through the aperture in the head. The handle preferably comprises a fastening point, which accommodates connecting the handle of the restraint device to another object. Some embodiments of the fastening point include a spring-loaded gate. The restraint device is a compact, portable, and versatile tool capable of facilitating a wide range of law enforcement and military practices.

  • Patent number: 11713600
Abstract: An apparatus including a capture device and a processor. The capture device may be configured to generate a plurality of video frames corresponding to an interior view of a vehicle. The processor may be configured to perform operations on the video frames to detect objects in the video frames, detect an occupant of the vehicle and a seat of the vehicle based on the objects detected in the video frames, determine a status of the occupant based on characteristics of the occupant detected in the video frames and generate a signal in response to a comparison of the status of the occupant to a threshold. The characteristics may be determined by performing the operations on the occupant in the video frames. The signal may be configured to control a door lock. The door lock controlled by the signal may correspond to the seat used by the occupant.

  • Patent number: 11713601
Abstract: A method of operating an entry system of a motor vehicle includes monitoring a battery voltage and the entry system continuously using a control circuit of the latch assembly in a non-emergency mode. Power is provided to the control circuit in the event of a loss of power from a main power source using a backup energy source of the control circuit. The method includes transitioning to an emergency mode in response to determining loss of power from the main power source or failure of the component of the entry system. An actuation group associated with the latch assembly is operated with the control circuit using power from the backup energy source of the control circuit in response to determining that actuation from a plurality of pins of a mechanical emergency switch assembly indicates a command from a user to unlatch the closure member in the emergency mode.

  • Patent number: 11713602
Abstract: A motor vehicle door lock, such as a motor vehicle bonnet lock includes a locking mechanism which substantially consists of a rotary latch and a pawl. The locking mechanism interacts with a striker element on a bonnet. The lock further has an unlocking/opening mechanism for the bonnet, which mechanism is equipped with a release element provided in the interior of a motor vehicle body. The release element is operated twice to open the bonnet. The locking mechanism is transferred to a pre-latched position after the release element has been operated at least once, with the striker element still being trapped. The bonnet is opened from the pre-latched position by lifting the pawl off the rotary latch with the aid of a power mechanism, said lifting being activated separately.

  • Patent number: 11713604
Abstract: A door stop mechanisms is disclosed that is arranged for preventing a door from swinging back against a wall. The door stop mechanisms are flexible, wall mounted door stops to absorb the impact of the swinging door or other mechanisms imparting a sideways force. The door stops are also arranged to absorb the force, flex, and return, without damage to the mechanism. One embodiment of a door stop mechanism, according to the present invention comprises a bottom portion having a bottom hollow section and a top portion on the bottom portion. The top portion has a top hollow section facing the bottom hollow section. A spring is arranged in the top and bottom hollow sections. A first end of the spring is attached to the top portion and a second end of the spring is attached to the bottom portion. The spring holds the top portion to the bottom portion in alignment while also allowing the top portion to move in relation to the bottom portion in response to a force.

  • Patent number: 11713605
Abstract: A stop to barricade a door from forced entry. The stop includes an upper portion designed to contact the door to barricade it against forced entry, and a lower portion that fits within a receptacle that is recessed into the floor. The stop can be removed from the receptacle when the user doesn't desire to barricade the door. When the stop is placed in the receptacle, the stop is preferably configurable by the user in two modes: a first that allows the user to slightly open the door by a gap, and a second that barricades the door when it is shut. Barricading the door in this second mode is beneficial because it allows the user to look through the gap to verify the identity of a person on the outside of the door, and/or to receive an item through the gap while not opening the door completely.

  • Patent number: 11713634
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for cooling a drilling mud in a drilling operation. In aspects, the disclosure includes drawing the drilling mud from a last active volume mud tank of a plurality of active volume mud tanks and conducting the drilling mud to a heat-exchanger apparatus and then returning the drilling mud to the last active volume mud tank. In other aspects, the disclosure includes a variable frequency drive (“VFD”) for controlling a pumping rate of an electrically driven pump for the drilling mud, wherein the VFD is capable of adjusting the pumping rate for pumping of the drilling mud through a heat-exchanger apparatus. In further aspects, systems and methods are provided that use a tube-and-shell heat exchanger. The aspects are independently capable of providing improved efficiency. These and other aspects are preferably used in combination for greater efficiency.

  • Patent number: 11713636
Abstract: A well plug for use in a subterranean well can include a generally tubular mandrel, a seal element positioned on the mandrel, and a setting rod releasably secured relative to the mandrel by an annular shaped shear ring or a bonded sleeve. The setting rod is releasable for longitudinal displacement relative to the mandrel in response to a predetermined shear force applied to the shear ring or bonded sleeve. A method of setting a well plug in a subterranean well can include displacing a generally tubular mandrel with a setting rod relative to an outer housing of the well plug, outwardly extending a seal element of the well plug in response to the displacing, and shearing a releasable attachment securing the setting rod relative to the mandrel, the releasable attachment comprising an annular shaped shear ring, or a bond between a sleeve and a surface.

  • Patent number: 11713637
Abstract: A method of selectively expanding a wall of a tubular includes assembling an expansion tool comprising a plurality of bi-directional boosters, arranging a predetermined number of explosive pellets a serially-arranged column between the bi-directional boosters, positioning a duel end firing explosive column tool within the tubular, and detonating the bi-directional boosters to simultaneously ignite opposing ends of the serially-arranged column to form two shock waves. The shock waves collide to create an amplified shock wave that travels radially outward to impact the tubular and expand a portion of the tubular wall radially outward, without perforating or cutting through the portion of the wall, to form a protrusion of the tubular at the portion of the wall. The protrusion extends into an annulus adjacent an outer surface of the wall of the tubular.

  • Patent number: 11713638
Abstract: A retrieving tool for retrieving an annular hollow baffle member in a wellbore. The baffle member has an interior bore and radially outwardly-biased collet finger protuberances on an exterior thereof matingly engaging a correspondingly-dimensioned annular recess within a landing sub of a well casing of the wellbore. The retrieving tool has a tubular body and a plurality of radially-outwardly-extendable dogs thereon. The tubular body and the dogs are sized that, when the dogs are retracted, the retrieving tool is movable through the interior bore of the baffle member to a position below a lowermost thereof, and when the dogs are extended after the retrieving tool moves to said position, the dogs radially engageable with the landing sub and axially engageable with the lowermost of baffle member for pulling the baffle member uphole and disengaging it from the landing sub for retrieving the entirety of the baffle member.
