Abstract: A system and method identify/verify tillage using satellite time series imagery by executing four steps in a loop to improve accuracy over time. First, satellite data are downloaded and preprocessed to retain only “good” images. Second, from fields with validated tillage, the relationship between satellite data and corresponding tillage types is learned to define a tillage prediction model. Next, the knowledge from the previous step is used to make prediction of tillage types for new fields using image statistics of the new field as input. Finally, predicted tillage will be validated manually, if needed using supplementary information, and new fields with validated tillage will be added to the existing validated list to gain new knowledge for further establishing between satellite data and corresponding tillage types.

Abstract: A branch cutting saw is provided which can easily and reliably cut thin and thick branches, branches in places difficult to reach with shears, branches in dense areas, and the like. The branch cutting saw is for cutting a branch by hooking a hook section 22 onto the branch and advancing and retreating a saw blade section 11 while urging the branch toward the saw blade section 11. The hook section 22 is pivotally supported at a leading end of a sheath body 20 and is under spring bias to have a hook section steady-state position Fs in a longitudinal region Rf of the sheath body 20, and is configured to be rotationally displaced from the hook section steady-state position Fs when a load equivalent to or greater than the spring bias is applied against the spring bias.

Abstract: Device for driving vertical units which are suspended from a guide rail for growing plants, wherein each unit comprises a first engagement element. Drive means cause the displacement members, each of which comprise a row of second engagement elements, to alternatively perform a first, outward movement and a second, inward movement. The first and second engagement elements are configured such that they engage with each other in such a way during this first movement that the units are displaced and are not displaced during the second movement. The second engagement elements are provided across the entire operating area of the one or more displacement members in such a way that the mutual distance increases. In this way, the units are guided through a growing space, with the mutual distance automatically being increased in order to give the plants more space as the growing process progresses.

Abstract: A system for growing vegetation that includes a plurality of zones, each zone having environmental conditions that vary from environmental conditions in other zones, at least one zone sensor measuring environmental conditions in each zone, a local database operative to store sensor measurements from the zone sensors, a remote database operative to receive and to store a subset of the sensor measurements stored in the local database, and a remote computing device operatively connected to the remote database. The remote computing device operative to receive information regarding movements of batches of vegetation through the plurality of zones and, using the received information, associate sensor measurements of the environmental conditions the batch of vegetation is subjected to as it move through the zones. A timeline for a batch of vegetation can be created that indicates the environmental conditions the vegetation is subjected to moving through the zones.

Abstract: A mycelium growth bed for growing a solid substrate-bound mycelium through which the mycelium composite is easily and readily removed. This is achieved through the use of a perforation layer embedded between the mycelium substrate and the mycelium composite so as to create a uniform structural weakness and thereby enhancing harvesting abilities of the ex-substrate mycelium via a greatly reduced and uniform tear strength. The perforation layer, through which the mycelium grows, allows for the gated and controlled extrusion of a matrix of colonial cells that may be easily and uniformly delaminated from the underlying mycelium substrate.

Abstract: A system and method for automated lawn chemical treatment application are described. The system comprises a station having a series of concentrated chemicals capable of being mixed and diluted in a reservoir having a water supply to form a specialty formula and a craft which receives the specialty formula for dispersal. Various features of the craft enable a systematic treatment of various plants and/or areas of a law to reduce or eliminate the growth of unwanted plants while promoting the growth of desired plants. These may include the addition of imaging sensors and artificial intelligence to recognize unwanted plants versus desirable plants and develop means to inhibit or grow each over a specified period. A homeowner's ability to consistently treat plants with low-volumes of chemical treatments is enhanced, thus limiting environmental effects and reducing chemical waste.
