Abstract: A method for operating a round baler and a round baler are disclosed. The round baler has a baling chamber having a variable diameter and is bounded by a rotating pressing means. The pressing means is driven and/or guided by rollers, wherein some of the rollers are adjusted by a first and second clamping arms, each of which are pivotably mounted on the housing side. The first and second clamping arms are adjusted by actuators so that a compaction pressure is generated with which the pressing means acts to form a round bale. To regulate the compaction pressure, a pressure relief valve is given an adjustable limit pressure value to transition from a closed position into an open position. The limit pressure value lies above a pressure value which corresponds to a target pressing means tension to achieve the compaction pressure.

Abstract: A method includes mixing a dry hydrophobic material with a dry superabsorbent polymer to improve the flowability of the polymer in humid conditions within a machine passageway having a residency time. The application of superabsorbent polymers in agriculture is desirable to aid plant growth in increasingly hot and dry conditions. However, dry bulk planting applications typically used in agriculture require the dry amendment to pass through confined channels and narrow pores. This is problematic because the polymers rapidly absorb moisture from the environment and adhere to the planting equipment causing fouling and clogging. The improvement in flowability provided by the compositions disclosed herein, is to the extent that the superabsorbent starch-like polymer can be applied using dry bulk planting applications in the humid conditions of Florida in the springtime. Surprisingly, the dry mixtures improve flowability without undermining the ability of the polymers to rapidly absorb moisture from rain.

Abstract: A Cucumis melo plant, wherein the plant homozygously includes in its genome a mutant allele of the staygreen (sgr) gene on chromosome 9, wherein the mutant allele of the sgr gene includes at least one loss-of-function mutation in comparison to the sequence of a wild-type sgr allele (SEQ ID NO:1) and wherein the mutant allele of the sgr gene confers rind color stability to the fruits of the plant at maturity and/or during post-harvest, in comparison with an isogenic non-long shelf life (non-LSL) Cucumis melo plant which does not include the mutant allele. This further relates to parts, cells and seeds of the plants, as well as related methods and processes.

Abstract: A game feeder having a recessed game feed spinner plate, which discharges game feed through a relatively narrow opening. The spinner plate is rotated by an electric motor, which is housed in a protective enclosure within the game feeder, along with the battery and timer, and protected from animals. The narrow discharge opening minimizes feed loss by animals accessing the spinner plate. The game feeder may sit on the ground, or may be mounted on a support such as a pole or tree with mounting hooks and a bracket, and when mounted is especially resistant to feed loss or feeder damage by bears, feral hogs and the like.
