Abstract: Monitoring apparatus for measuring the respiratory rate of a subject comprises an upper arm unit attached to a subject's upper arm in use and containing at least one movement sensor and a photoplethysmograph configured to monitor blood volume within the subject's upper arm while the upper arm unit is worn on the subject's upper arm. The output from the photoplethysmograph and movement sensor(s) are processed to calculate and output an estimate of the rate of respiration of the subject. Respiratory cycle induced variations in the photoplethysmograph signal and movement sensor signals can be independently determined and there is a greater confidence in the calculated respiratory rate when these independent calculations give consistent readings. If there is insufficient confidence, no rate of respiration is displayed.

The session for user is generated in form of tasks, using current condition of the user and/or recommendations provided by a physiotherapist. The tasks may be performed by the patient in virtual environment, using, one or more virtual objects. Further, the tasks performed by the user is continuously monitored by implementing image processing techniques. The monitoring is performed to check if the user is performing the tasks as recommended by the physiotherapist. In case a deviation is detected, dynamic feedbacks may be provided to the user in real-time to correct actions of the user. Further, upon ending the sessions, the user may be scored or graded for the session based on performance of the tasks.

One or more sensing devices may collect infant heartbeat related data, which may be filtered and converted to a frequency signal. The frequency signal may be monitored for irregularity or stoppage, and a processing module may determine whether the irregularity or stoppage is caused by an actual stoppage or irregularity in infant heartbeat. If infant heartbeat is determined to have stopped, a corrective action may be performed.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide devices and methods capable of optimizing in vivo electrochemical measurement of a molecule of interest, for example glucose. Such aspects may include an engineered binding protein, for example an engineered glucose binding protein. The engineered binding protein may change conformation in response to binding or unbinding to a ligand and/or analyte, for example glucose. Such conformational changes may either expose or occlude a redox molecule attached to the binding protein. When exposed, the redox molecule may generate a redox signal dependent upon the binding protein's conformational state. The redox signal may be measurable, for example by cyclic voltammetry. The protein may be incorporated into a sensor that can be used as an implantable continuous glucose monitoring device.
