Publication number: 20240081612Abstract: An objective of an endoscope can be evaluated by collecting a series of differently focused images and digitally stitching them together to obtain a final image for the endoscope that can be then evaluated. Movable optics and/or a camera can be used to collect the series of differently focused images. Image processing algorithms can be used to evaluate the collected images in terms of image sharpness and identify the areas at which each image is in relatively good focus. Once the areas of good focus are identified, the image processing algorithms can extract the areas of good focus. The digital stitching algorithms can be used to assemble the extracted areas of good focus to form a final image where most of the target scene should be in focus. The final image is then reviewed to determine the acceptability of the objective.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 15, 2023Publication date: March 14, 2024Inventor: Maciej Dybiec

Publication number: 20240081614Abstract: In the endoscopic examination support apparatus, the image acquisition means acquires captured images during removal of an endoscope. The posture change estimation means estimates a relative posture change of an endoscope camera from the captured images. The distance estimation means estimates a distance between a surface of colon and the endoscope camera from the captured images. The intestinal tract direction estimation means estimates an intestinal tract direction of the colon based on the posture change and the distance. The calculation means calculates a direction in which the endoscope camera should be directed, based on the intestinal tract direction and the relative posture of the endoscope camera. The output means outputs a display image including the direction in which the endoscope camera should be directed, to a display device. The display image can be used for support such as user's decision making.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 22, 2023Publication date: March 14, 2024Applicant: NEC CorporationInventors: Hiroyasu SAIGA, Tatsu KIMURA

Publication number: 20240081653Abstract: Systems, methods, devices, and techniques for estimating a heart disease prediction of a mammal. An electrocardiogram (ECG) procedure is performed on a mammal, and a computer system obtains ECG data that describes results of the ECG over a period of time. The system provides a predictive input that is based on the ECG data to a predictive model, such as a neural network or other machine-learning model. In response, the predictive model processes the input to generate an estimated heart disease predictive characteristic of the mammal. The system outputs the estimated heart disease prediction of the mammal for presentation to a user.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 31, 2023Publication date: March 14, 2024Applicant: MAYO FOUNDATION FOR MEDICAL EDUCATION AND RESEARCHInventors: Itzhak Zachi Attia, Paul A. Publication number: 20240081654Abstract: Systems and methods that can employ a bleeding sensor that uses an optical mechanism to detect blood in the patients GI tract are described. The bleeding sensor includes a substrate holding a centrally-located light detector with a broad sensitivity spectrum and at least two light emitters positioned radially around the centrally-located light detector, each light emitter configured to emit light of different primary wavelengths. The bleeding sensor has a gap between each of the at least two light emitters and the centrally-located light detector that accepts the contents of a patients gastrointestinal tract. An optical cap covers the centrally-located light detector and the at least two light emitters to direct the light emitted from the at least two light emitters through the gap and onto the centrally-located light detector.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 6, 2022Publication date: March 14, 2024Inventors: Alexander Barnes BALDWIN, Yi-Kai LO

Publication number: 20240081655Abstract: A wearable device can be worn by a neonate or infant and used to monitor estimated instantaneous SpO2 to prevent Sudden Unexpected Postnatal Collapse (SUPC). The wearable device includes at least one photoplethysmography sensor configured to be placed against the neonate's skin to measure pleth data and an inertial measurement unit (IMU) to collect motion data of the neonate and/or a pressure sensor. The pleth data and the motion/pressure data can be sampled for a time period. The pleth data and the motion/pressure data can be analyzed to estimate an average heartrate and compute heartrate variability features for the time period. An instantaneous SpO2 can be estimated for the time period based on the pleth data, the motion data, and the heartrate variability features for the time period. The instantaneous SpO2 can be characterized as healthy, watch, or dangerous; an alert can be issued when characterized as watch/dangerous.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 6, 2023Publication date: March 14, 2024Inventors: Kenneth A. Publication number: 20240081657Abstract: The present invention provides a smart wearable IOT device configured to be worn by a subject on the body and is capable of continuously tracking and reporting a plurality of vital signs and physical activities of the user, including but not limited to sound and vibrational dynamics due to breathing and coughing (from which we can derive the breathing and coughing types and features), body temperature, peripheral oxygen saturation (SpO2), heart rate, and fatigue-related mobility, physical ability, step count, photoplethysmogram (PPG), ECG, heart rate, heart rate variability, etc. In one aspect, the wearable system will be able to measure the distance with different users through the transmit and receive of Bluetooth low energy signals or WiFi to trace contacts between different wearers. The system will be able to record the data locally on a SD card and also will be able to upload on a server.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 14, 2023Publication date: March 14, 2024Inventors: Seyed Farokh Atashzar, Yao Wang, Daniel Sterman

Publication number: 20240081658Abstract: The invention provides a neck-worn sensor (referred to herein as the ‘necklace’) that is a single, body-worn system that measures the following parameters from an ambulatory patient: heart rate, pulse rate, pulse oximetry, respiratory rate, temperature, thoracic fluid levels, stroke volume, cardiac output, and a parameter sensitive to blood pressure called pulse transit time. From stroke volume, a first algorithm employing a linear model can estimate the patient's pulse pressure. And from pulse pressure and pulse transit time, a second algorithm, also employing a linear algorithm, can estimate systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure. Thus, the necklace can measure all five vital signs along with hemodynamic parameters. It also includes a motion-detecting accelerometer, from which it can determine motion-related parameters such as posture, degree of motion, activity level, respiratory-induced heaving of the chest, and falls.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 16, 2023Publication date: March 14, 2024Inventors: Matthew Banet, Susan Meeks Pede, Marshal Singh Dhillon, Andrew Terry, Kenneth Robert Hunt
