Abstract: A manual intraosseous (IO) device for introducing a bone portal to a predetermined depth relative to a surface of a target bone, and methods for using same. The device is manually actuated and configured to limit the depth of penetration of a bone portal into a bone cortex independently of an applied driving force and independently of subcutaneous tissue thickness surrounding the bone cortex, while providing terminal feedback that the bone portal has been penetrated to the predetermined depth. The device has transfusion facilitating components that remain fixed at the penetration site following penetration of the bone portal to the predetermined depth and releasable components that are separated from the transfusion facilitating components prior to a transfusion operation. Abstract: A catheter includes an elongated body, a distal end side of which is inserted into a body, and an electrode provided around an axis of the elongated body and expandable in a direction intersecting the axis. The electrode in an expanded state includes an intermediate portion at least partially including a portion in which element wires spread like a mesh, a proximal end portion located closer to a proximal end side of the elongated body than the intermediate portion and in which the element wires gather, and a distal end portion located closer to the distal end side than the intermediate portion and in which the element wires gather. The intermediate portion includes a maximum portion where an outer dimension of the electrode is maximized. The maximum portion is located closer to the proximal end side than a center of the electrode in an axial direction of the elongated body.

Abstract: Described here are devices, systems, and methods for closing the left atrial appendage. The methods described here utilize a closure device for closing the left atrial appendage and guides or expandable elements with ablation or abrading elements to ablate or abrade the left atrial appendage. In general, these methods include positioning a balloon at least partially within the atrial appendage, positioning a closure assembly of a closure device around an exterior of the atrial appendage, inflating the balloon, partially closing the closure assembly, ablating the interior tissue of the atrial appendage with the inflated balloon, removing the balloon from the atrial appendage, and closing the atrial appendage with the closure assembly.

Abstract: Technologies are described for an endoscopic duct clearing system. A cannula can be shaped to pass through an endoscope within an esophagus, into a duodenum, and through an incision in a duodenal papilla. A capture basket may be deployed from a distal end of the cannula. A hand control at the proximate end of the cannula may be operable to position the distal end of the cannula from outside the endoscope into proximity of blockage material. A suction line may be coupled from a suction source to the proximate end of the cannula. A suction control may be coupled to the suction source. The suction control may be operable to adjust a level of suction drawn by the suction source through the distal end of the cannula. The suction control may be adjusted to draw the blockage material against or into the cannula for removal from the patient.

Abstract: A laser beam treatment system that delivers laser beam pulses to a dental treatment area according to a particular pattern is described. In various instances, the spacing of the pattern (e.g., locations at which pulses are delivered and the distances therebetween) and/or the timing of the pattern (e.g., amount of time between the delivery of pulses to a first location and a later location that abuts the first location) can have a demonstrable effect on ablation performance. The effects can include, for example: improved ablation efficiency, improved surface smoothness, improved material removal rate, and/or the absence of melt, carbonization or other negative surface features.
