Abstract: A brachytherapy source delivery device includes a first tissue-piercing leg having proximal and distal ends, a second tissue-piercing leg having proximal and distal ends, wherein the proximal ends of the first and second tissue-piercing legs are joined at a span section in a first angular orientation with respect to each other, and a carrier element formed at, or attached to, the span section, the carrier element configured to support a radioactive brachytherapy source. The distal ends of the first and second legs can be curved inward toward each other to pierce a tissue when engaged toward each other into a closed position. The first and second tissue-piercing legs can be formed of a wire having a circular cross-sectional or non-circular cross-sectional shape. The carrier element can be tangentially attached to the span section. Each of the legs have a length that is greater than the length of the span section.

Abstract: A polymeric radiation-source with customized geometries to maximize receipt of radiation into treatment areas that is formed from either radioisotopes molecularly bonded to a polymer or radioisotopes encased within a polymer.

Abstract: A crystalline structure modeling methodology that is conventionally used to model crystalline matter down to the atomic level is instead used to determine spot placement for radiation treatment. The cross-sectional shape of a treatment target is specified; locations (peaks) in a density field inside the shape are determined using the crystalline structure model; locations of spots in the treatment target for spot scanning are determined, where the locations correspond to the locations (peaks) inside the shape determined using the crystalline structure model; and the locations of the spots are stored as candidates for potential inclusion in a radiation treatment plan.

Abstract: Some embodiments are directed to an image director of a patient monitoring system to obtain calibration images of a calibration sheet or other calibration object at various orientations and locations. The images are then stored and processed to calculate camera parameters defining the location and orientation of the image detector and identifying internal characteristics of the image detector, and the information are stored. The patient monitoring system can be re-calibrated by using the image detector to obtain an additional image of a calibration sheet or calibration object. The additional image and the stored camera parameters are then used to detect any apparent change in the internal characteristics of the image detector (10)(S6-4).

Abstract: A system for transcranial magnetic resonance (MR)-guided focused ultrasound and method of using transcranial MR-guided focused ultrasound are disclosed. The system includes a transcranial ultrasound transducer configured to apply ultrasound radiation to a patient's head. The system also includes an antenna that reflects radio frequency (RF) waves. The antenna is configured to be positioned between the transducer and the patient's head. The antenna and at least a portion of the patient's head are surrounded by a fluid. Embodiments foster improved MR image quality scans of the patient's head when the transducer is filled with the fluid.

Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed for thermal therapy in a male prostate patient. The apparatus includes a long tubular element that is to be inserted into a patient's urethra so that a first tip end of it reaches up into the patient's diseased prostate. The elongated portion includes a narrow cylindrical tube within which an ultrasonic array is disposed along the long axis of the cylinder. Fluid is pumped into and out of a treatment zone of said patient as needed to control a temperature of a region in said treatment zone. A motorized driver is used to controllably rotate said elongated portion and the ultrasound array therein about the long axis of the apparatus so as to deliver acoustic energy to said diseased tissue. Various control and monitoring components may be used in conjunction with the present apparatus to design, control, and terminate the therapy.

Abstract: In some embodiments, the present disclosure provides a method to process high pressure air into low pressure breathing air for one or more sealing and locking helmets and/or one or more air respirators. Other embodiments include a system configured to perform such a method and a manufacturing process of making such a system. In some embodiments, the breathing system automatically fills a local reserve bottle by pressure equalization. In this regard, the secondary supply bottles will fill the backup bottle when the console module operator (CMO) connects the secondary air supply to the system. The backup bottle will then be isolated from depletion during normal operation by means of a check valve to prevent back flow of the emergency cylinder into the secondary air supply. The local reserve bottle will protect against loss of air on any of the high pressure air hoses.

Also, a fire suppression system including two walls, such as an interior wall and an exterior wall or two interior walls. At least a portion of the interior volume includes fire suppressing insulation that will form a fire suppressing intumescent barrier between the walls when exposed to the heat of a fire.

Abstract: A safety cabinet includes an enclosure and at least one door to selectively seal the enclosure. The safety cabinet can be used to store, for example, flammable liquids, flammable waste, corrosives, pesticides, or combustible waste. The safety cabinet incorporates a thermally-actuated damper that includes a body, a valve plate, and a pivot assembly. The valve plate is disposed within the passage of the body such that the valve plate is movable between an open position and a closed position. The pivot assembly includes a biasing system adapted to bias the valve plate to the closed position and a fusible link interconnected between the body and the biasing system to constrain the valve plate from moving from the open position to the closed position. The fusible link is configured to melt at a predetermined temperature to thereby allow the biasing system to move the valve plate to the closed position.

Abstract: Various embodiments include a blocking apparatus comprising: a holding apparatus; a receiving element mounted in the holding apparatus about an axis of rotation, defining a through-opening with a through-axis parallel to the axis of rotation; a wrap spring mechanically prestressed in the holding apparatus, with a winding arranged around the receiving element; and a thermocouple made of a material having a lower melting temperature than the holding apparatus and/or the wrap spring. The thermocouple holds at least one end of the wrap spring with respect to the holding apparatus in the prestressed state in such a way that the receiving element can be freely rotated in both drive directions about the axis of rotation. The receiving element is blocked in one of the two drive directions in the relaxed state of the wrap spring and in the triggered state of a thermal fuse.

Abstract: An incendiary capsule 10 has a body 14 forming a single compartment containing a first part 18 of a two part ignition system and a quantity of a pyrotechnic heat source (PHS) 16. The capsule 10 is initiated by injecting, when ready for use, a quantity of a second part of the two part ignition system. The ignition system generates sufficient heat to initiate the PHS 16, which burns at a substantially higher temperature than the ignition system.

Abstract: A ceiling ventilation hood and fire protection system includes a ceiling ventilation hood, the ceiling ventilation hood defining an upper plane and a lower plane with a filter disposed between the upper and lower planes, and at least two nozzles each having an outlet defining a discharge axis with the outlet disposed in the ceiling ventilation hood between the upper and lower planes to provide overlapping protection of a hazard zone. Each of the nozzles define a spray pattern to effectively address a fire within the hazard zone independent of airflow through the filter. The outlets of the at least two nozzles are positioned at least 54 inches above the hazard zone.

Abstract: The present invention discloses an apparatus for fitness training that has an anchoring mechanism for detachably securing the apparatus to a flat surface, an adapter plate connected to the anchoring mechanism, and an anchoring plate connected to the anchoring mechanism using the adapter plate. The adapter plate includes a cutout configured to receive a generally commensurately configured protrusion of a back side of the anchoring plate.

Abstract: Provided is a stackable weight that can be stacked alongside other stackable weights to achieve a desired weight on a weight bar. The stackable weight includes a handle to carry the stackable weight, an opening to attach the stackable weight to a weight bar, and at least one feature to engage at least one feature of a second stackable weight. The at least one feature of the stackable weight reduces movement of the stackable weight in relation to any number of other stackable weights when attached on a weight bar. The stackable weights may vary in size and weight to allow a user to achieve a desired weight of the weight bar.

Abstract: An apparatus to facilitate weight lifting exercises is disclosed. The apparatus includes a palm plate having a hook portion configured to receive a weight bar. A detent is rotationally connected to the palm plate and configured to constrain the weight bar within the hook member in a closed position. An optional thumb lever may be connected to the detent to facilitate opening and closing the detent.

A hand grip bar spans right and left sides of the frame at one end thereof. In use, a person grasps the hand grip bar, and places each foot on one of the slide members. The user then pushes with either one leg or alternatively, with both legs, against the resistance of the elastic tether.

Abstract: A pivot board exercise device has a top circular part that may rotate in relation to a bottom circular part, and a unique unibody or complex multi-arm resistance mechanism is secured at its center to a rotational center platform of the top circular part, and is secured at the end of each arm to posts projecting from the bottom circular part. The unibody multi-arm resistance mechanism is a single piece of resilient/flexible material, the complex multi-arm resistance mechanism has multiple arms attached at the ends to the bottom part, so when the top of the invention is rotated relative to the bottom, resistance is offered, the resistance increasing with rotation and occurring regardless of the direction of rotation.

Abstract: A therapeutic bracelet includes a strip of elastomeric material that defines an interior surface, an exterior surface, and a plurality of finger holes extending through the strip. The strip of elastomeric material is configured to be positioned over an operative hand of a user and to be worn around a wrist of the user. Upon periodic removal of the therapeutic bracelet from the wrist, the user inserts one or more digits in the finger holes from the interior surface and stretches the therapeutic bracelet with a thumb of the operative hand or with an opposite hand. A method of using the therapeutic bracelet to alternately strengthen and stretch the operative hand is also provided. The bracelet may also be used for supporting the wrist in an ergonomically correct position; and, when turned inside out, for massaging sore or injured muscles.

Abstract: A method is disclosed for using an artificial intelligence engine to modify resistance of one or more pedals of an exercise device. The method includes generating, by the artificial intelligence engine, a machine learning model trained to receive one or more measurements as input, and outputting, based on the one or more measurements, a control instruction that causes the exercise device to modify the resistance of the one or more pedals. The method includes receiving the one or more measurements from a sensor associated with the one or more pedals of the exercise device, determining whether the one or more measurements satisfy a trigger condition, and responsive to determining that the one or more measurements satisfy the trigger condition, transmitting the control instruction to the exercise device.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a spring ring device having a unique ability to bounce and rebound off hard surfaces while maintaining a continued flight path, acting as if it had just been thrown back to the thrower after ricocheting off a wall. The spring ring device will bounce off one or multiple surfaces and can be caught by the same or a different player. The spring ring device generally includes a ring, a ring cover configured to encase the ring. The spring ring device may also include a shell configured to cover at least a portion of the ring cover. The unique structure of the spring ring device allows the device to bounce and rebound off hard surfaces and maintain a continued flight path.

Abstract: A sports performance sensor for an implement used in sports, such as a bat or baseball. The implement, e.g. the bat or baseball, is formed with an area inside that can include circuitry. The circuitry can measure rotation acceleration, and speed. The outer surface of this device has pressure sensing fabric, which senses location and pressure on the outer surface. This can form a pressure map of where the user's fingers are touching the outer surface. The information from the user's performance in using the device are transmitted to an external computer such as a phone which creates a pressure sensing map. This pressure sensing map can then be compared to data from either the same user at a different time or from other users. This can be specific to different actions, for example it can be specific to the user throwing a specific kind of pitch, or the user carrying out a specific operation such as swinging a bat to hit a specific kind of pitch.

Abstract: A batting training aid includes a base, a vertically-extending brace or leg supported by the base, and a plane attached to an upper end of the brace via a joint. The brace allows for adjustment of the height of the plane, while the joint between the plane and the brace allows the plane to roll, pitch, and/or yaw to mimic optimal swing planes for different pitch locations/angles and batter heights. The training aid can incorporate a batting tee for tee work and/or a resistive medium to approximate contact during dry swings. A guide bar can be provided above the plane to prevent a hitter from swinging down on the ball. Sensors can be incorporated into the training aid to measure one or more swing metrics, such as bat speed; data collected by the sensors can be transmitted to external devices such as smartphones, tablets, personal computers, and the like.

Abstract: Described herein are systems and methods for racket sports match analytics using data recorded through an image processing system or a data capture system. The data is then used to determine ball parameters and position data of a player. The data is then analyzed to assign tags to shots and provide an interface via which the shot can be displayed in a video player.

Client-based graphics processing can be enabled in response to a determination that the client includes a graphics processor having a performance that exceeds a minimum threshold. When a game is remotely executed and streamed to a client, the client is configurable to provide network feedback that can be used to adjust execution and/or encoding for the game.

Abstract: Examples described herein generally relate to systems and method for streaming a video game at a client device. The client device may transmit video game controls to a streaming server. The client device may receive a video stream encoding video images generated in response to the video game controls from the streaming server. The client device may determine that a video image of the video stream to display in a frame has not been completely received at a designated time prior to display of the frame. The client device may determine an image transformation based on a history of the video images and motion vectors for the video stream. The client device may apply the image transformation to a portion of one or more images corresponding to previous frames. The client device may display a substitute video image in the frame including the portion of the transformed image.

Abstract: This specification describes a computer-implemented method of predicting the appearance of a deformable object in a video game. The method comprises determining a configuration of a moveable object underlying the deformable object. Input data is inputted into a machine-learning model. The input data comprises a representation of the configuration of the moveable object. A model output is generated as output of the machine-learning model for predicting the appearance of the deformable object. Mesh and texture data for the deformable object is determined from the model output. The deformable object is rendered using the generated mesh and texture data.

Abstract: The present disclosure describes approaches to camera re-localization that improve the speed and accuracy with which pose estimates are generated by fusing output of a computer vision algorithm with data from a prior model of a geographic area in which a user is located. For each candidate pose estimate output by the algorithm, a game server maps the estimate to a position on the prior model (e.g., a specific cell on a heatmap-style histogram) and retrieves a probability corresponding to the mapped position. A data fusion module fuses, for each candidate pose estimate, a confidence score generated by the computer vision algorithm with the location probability from the prior model to generate an updated confidence score. If an updated confidence score meets or exceeds a score threshold, a re-localization module initiates a location-based application (e.g., a parallel reality game) based on the associated candidate pose estimate.
