Abstract: Machine learning in an artificial pancreas is described. An artificial pancreas system may include a wearable glucose monitoring device, an insulin delivery system, and a computing device. Broadly speaking, the wearable glucose monitoring device provides glucose measurements of a person continuously. The artificial pancreas algorithm, which may be implemented at the computing device, determines doses of insulin to deliver to the person based on a variety of aspects for the purpose of maintaining the person's glucose within a target range, as indicated by those glucose measurements. The insulin delivery system then delivers those determined doses to the person. As the artificial pancreas algorithm determines insulin doses for the person over time and effectiveness of the insulin doses to maintain the person's glucose level in the target range is observed, an underlying model of the artificial pancreas algorithm may be updated to better determine insulin doses.

Abstract: A method, apparatus, and system for determining a correspondence of physiological data obtained in a physiological study of a subject. The method includes extracting a first signal from the physiological study. A second signal from the physiological study is also extracted. The first signal and the second signal are obtained by one or more biometric sensors. Data of the first signal and data of the second signal are stored on a memory storage. A coherency value is determined between components of the extracted first signal and components of the extracted second signal. And the correspondence of the physiological study data is determined based on the determined coherency value.

Abstract: A portable vein viewer apparatus may be battery powered and hand-held to reveal patient vasculature information to aid in venipuncture processes. The apparatus comprises a first laser diode emitting infrared light, and a second laser diode emitting only visible wavelengths, wherein vasculature absorbs a portion of the infrared light causing reflection of a contrasted infrared image. A pair of silicon PIN photodiodes, responsive to the contrasted infrared image, causes transmission of a corresponding signal. The signal is processed through circuitry to amplify, sum, and filter the outputted signals, and with the use of an image processing algorithm, the contrasted image is projected onto the patient's skin surface using the second laser diode. Revealed information may comprise vein location, depth, diameter, and degree of certainty of vein locations. Projection of vein images may be a positive or a negative image. Venipuncture needles may be coated to provide visibility in projected images.
