  • Patent number: 11980735
Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure are directed to methods and/or apparatuses involving modifying flow and/or concentration of an agent being injected for characterizing a vascular system. As may be implemented in accordance with one or more embodiments, a liquid including an agent is injected into a vascular system, by dynamically modulating a flow rate of the agent being injected over a range of flow rates. The vascular system is characterized based on a response of the vascular system to the dynamic modulation. In some implementations, such an approach involves using an injector that operates to separately control the rate at which an agent and other liquid such as saline are injected. These approaches can be implemented with modulation schemes using one or more of a variety of functions.

  • Patent number: 11980739
Abstract: A fluid delivery device has a syringe barrel-type reservoir with plunger, and plunger driver assembly comprising double-acting, telescoping lead screws that is located behind and outside of the barrel. Simultaneously and counter-rotating sleeve screw and center screw telescope out of a nested configuration of the plunger driver assembly and into the reservoir at a rate of double their individual and equal pitch and lead parameters when the sleeve screw is rotated. A threaded nut and gear anchor disposed on an end of the barrel receive the sleeve screw and the threaded nut causes the sleeve screw to translate and rotate in response to motor operation. A distal end of the center screw can be keyed to a plunger pusher for anti-rotation constraint when the motor is imparting rotation on the threaded nut and sleeve screw.

  • Patent number: 11980741
Abstract: An optical circuit detects PPG signals reflected from skin tissue at one or more different wavelengths. A processing circuit integrated in the biosensor or in communication with the biosensor processes the PPG signals to obtain a period of vasodilation, a level of vasodilation and rate of change of the level of vasodilation. The processing circuit compares the level of vasodilation to a normal range and determines an arterial stiffness index using the comparison and the rate of change of the level of vasodilation.

  • Patent number: 11980745
Abstract: A low-waste needle and syringe assembly for injecting a fluid into a patient is provided. The syringe has hatch marks printed on the outer wall of the body to indicate the amount of fluid and/or the concentration of the fluid contained in a fluid chamber of the syringe. A syringe tip defining a substantially frusto-conical interior void extends from an end wall of the syringe. A needle hub holds a needle and is configured so that the hub can be selectively and securedly attached to the syringe. A frusto-conical member of the needle hub matingly engages the frusto-conical void of the syringe tip when the hub is secured to the syringe, forming a fluid-tight seal. A plunger positioned in the fluid chamber can be depressed by a user, and a piston cap attached to the plunger urges fluid in the chamber out of the chamber through the syringe tip and into the needle. The piston cap matingly engages the end wall of the syringe so that substantially all fluid is urged from the chamber to the needle.

Abstract: A self-centering washer is positioned between the feedthrough and filter capacitor of a filtered feedthrough. The washer has openings through which first and second terminal pins extend. A first opening has an inner arcuate portion contacting the first terminal pin and an outer perimeter portion exposing the braze sealing the terminal pin to the insulator. A second opening has an inner arcuate portion contacting the second terminal pin and an outer perimeter portion exposing the braze sealing the terminal pin to the insulator. In an imaginary configuration with the first and second washer openings superimposed one on top of the other, the cumulative arcuate distance of the inner arcuate portions about one of the terminal pins, subtracting overlap, results in a gap between the superimposed washer openings that is less than a diameter of the first and second terminal pins so that the washer is prevented from lateral movement.

  • Patent number: 11980774
Abstract: Devices and related methods for impinging light on tissue to induce one or more biological effects, and more particularly illumination devices and related methods for phototherapeutic light treatments in the presence of vitamins are disclosed. Biological effects may include at least one of inactivating and inhibiting growth of one or more combinations of microorganisms and pathogens, including but not limited to viruses. Phototherapeutic light treatments in the presence of vitamins may involve providing one or more vitamins in the form of a coating or film on a surface of a target tissue and irradiating the target tissue with light. By performing the phototherapeutic light treatment in the presence of vitamins, efficacy of the light treatment may be improved, thereby reducing viral loads and/or reducing doses of light received by the target tissue.

  • Patent number: 11980775
Abstract: Generally speaking, pursuant to these various embodiments a memory stores prescribed treatment instructions for a particular patient radiation therapy. Those treatment instructions specify clinical metrics for goals pertaining to at least one treatment volume for the particular patient. Either directly or inferentially those clinical metrics are prioritized. A control circuit automatically converts those treatment instructions into resultant radiation treatment plan optimization objectives where the automatic conversion can compatibly comprise a non-convex optimization objective. The control circuit then automatically iteratively optimizes the radiation treatment plan for the particular patient radiation therapy as a function, at least in part, of the aforementioned resultant optimization objectives to thereby produce an optimized radiation treatment plan for the particular patient that a radiation treatment platform then utilizes to administer therapeutic radiation to the particular patient.

Abstract: Risks of radiation-induced toxicity associated with a radiotherapy treatment of a target region of a patient are predicted. Data associated with a region of interest comprising the target region is received. The received data includes a predefined dose map of the radiotherapy treatment and pre-radiotherapy-treatment imaging data of the region of interest. A trained machine-learning algorithm is applied to the received data. The trained machine-learning algorithm generates at least one toxicity indicator based on the received data. The at least one toxicity indicator is indicative of the risks of the radiation-induced toxicity.
