Patent number: 11992418Abstract: An intervertebral implant may include an input for expanding at least two extendable support elements connected to a body at respective locations, such that the extendable support elements each apply a respective expansion force directed away from a surface of the body. Application of a single input force to the input may induce the extendable support elements to apply different amounts of expansion force. Alternatively or additionally, an intervertebral implant may include at least two portions connected together by a hinge for articulation about the hinge. In one aspect, the hinge may include at least two rigid links each pivotably connected to the two portions. In another aspect, a rigid link of the hinge may include a passageway for communicating a hydraulic fluid between the two portions. A locking system may be positionable into successive locked configurations by operation of a cam to prevent contraction of an extendable support element.Type: GrantFiled: June 25, 2021Date of Patent: May 28, 2024Assignee: HOWMEDICA OSTEONICS CORP.Inventors: Amir Ali Sharifi-Mehr, Oliver Buchert, Ronald Litke, Thomas A. Patent number: 11992419Abstract: A spinal implant is provided including an upper surface, a lower surface, a front surface and a back surface, two side surfaces extending between the upper surface and the lower surface, the two side surfaces extending between the front surface and the back surface and an opening positioned closer to the back surface than the front surface. The opening is provided to contain graft material that spans between a cortical rim of the upper vertebral body and the cortical rim of the lower vertebral body. The method includes packing the opening with graft material, wherein the graft material spans between the decorticated cortical rim of the upper vertebral body and the decorticated cortical rim of the lower vertebral body.Type: GrantFiled: November 1, 2022Date of Patent: May 28, 2024Inventor: Seth Neubardt

Patent number: 11992420Abstract: A spinal implant system is provided for bridging an intervertebral space between vertebral bodies bordering the intervertebral space. The spinal implant system includes at least one adjustable end cap and a spinal implant. The end cap can be used with additional end caps and/or the spinal implant. Multiple end caps can be stacked on top of one another, and one end cap can be attached to a first end of the spinal implant, and another end cap can be attached to a second end of the spinal implant. Thus, one or more of the end caps can be attached to either end of the spinal implant.Type: GrantFiled: March 31, 2023Date of Patent: May 28, 2024Assignee: WARSAW ORTHOPEDIC, INC.Inventors: Thomas J. Patent number: 11992421Abstract: An expandable cage system for use in spinal surgery includes a top portion having an outwardly extending top arm, and a bottom portion having an outwardly extending bottom arm. The bottom arm is configured to engage with the top arm such that upon engagement, the top portion and the bottom portion are substantially restricted from movement relative to each other in an anterior-posterior direction, and in a medial-lateral direction. The expandable cage system further includes a removable shim configured to be positioned between the top portion and the bottom portion to hold the expandable cage in an expanded position within a spinal cavity.Type: GrantFiled: March 21, 2022Date of Patent: May 28, 2024Inventor: Seth K. Patent number: 11992422Abstract: The present application is directed a Joint Revision Surgery Apparatus which includes a blade guide block which has a plurality of blade guide slots, both straight and curved, and a central cavity. The blade guide block central cavity is positioned over the trunnion end of the existing prosthesis to be removed and secured to the prosthesis. The guide blade block is secured to the trunnion of the prosthesis to be extracted using retaining rings housed within the guide block. Straight, curved and compound curved knife blades are guided by the blade guide slots to cut the prosthesis free. The guide blocks, in varying sizes and configurations, straight and curved knifes blades and related accessories may be sold as a complete kit. The Joint Revision Surgery Apparatus facilitates rapid, efficient and complete removal of an existing prosthesis during joint revision surgery, and significantly increases positive medical outcomes for joint revision procedures.Type: GrantFiled: March 30, 2021Date of Patent: May 28, 2024Assignee: MAP Medical Solutions, LLCInventor: Mark B. Patent number: 11992424Abstract: A selection system comprises a ring, a plurality of shims, a measurement device, and at least one glenoid component. The ring is configured to couple to a humerus. A shim of the plurality of shims is configured to couple to the ring. The measurement device is configured to couple to the shim. Each shim of the plurality of shims has a different height when coupled to the ring. The selection system generates measurement data to support the selection of at least one prosthetic component for a shoulder joint in a surgical environment. The shoulder joint geometry can be adjusted by changing shims, changing glenoid component or both. The selection system is removed after the selection of the final prosthetic components for the shoulder joint. The final prosthetic components are installed in the shoulder joint. The measurement device is placed in the shoulder joint and measurement data is generated to verify performance.Type: GrantFiled: November 18, 2020Date of Patent: May 28, 2024Assignees: HOWMEDICA OSTEONICS CORP., EXACTECH, INC.Inventors: Chris Roche, Alexander Greene, Jonathan Trousdale, Joseph DeCerce
