Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for printing a jet of ink, such as a jet produced by an aerosol jet apparatus or an ink jet printer. The print head is rapidly swiveled, tilted, pivoted, or rotated during deposition to print lines or other shapes on a substrate. Parallel lines and arbitrary shapes can be printed by shuttering the jet and/or moving the substrate relative to the print head. Metallic lines from the top surface to the bottom surface of the substrate can be wrapped around the edge of the substrate without losing electrical connectivity. In one example connections can be printed from a printed circuit board (PCB) to an integrated circuit on the PCB. The deposition rate can be over 50 mm/s, meaning that over 25 lines/s can be printed, depending on their length and thickness.

Abstract: Described herein are electrochemical-additive manufacturing methods and systems using such methods. A method comprises depositing a material onto a deposition electrode by flowing a current between that deposition electrode and each of multiple individually-addressable electrodes, forming an electrode array. These currents are independently controlled based on a target map and using deposition control circuits, each coupled to one individually-addressable electrode. The target map is generated by a system controller based on various characteristics of the system (e.g., the performance of each deposition control circuit and/or individually-addressable electrode, electrolyte composition) and the desired characteristics of the deposited material (e.g., deposition location, uniformity, morphology). Furthermore, when the deposition electrode and the electrode array move relative to each other, the system controller dynamically updates the target map based on their relative positions.

Abstract: A system and method are provided for forming electromagnetic energy transmissive layers, which are particularly configured to selectively scatter specific and selectable wavelengths of electromagnetic energy, while allowing remaining wavelengths to pass therethrough. Processes are provided by which to form, or otherwise incorporate, one or more energy scattering layers, including uniquely implementing optical light scattering techniques in such energy scattering layers, and to objects, object portions, wall plates, lenses, filters, screens and the like that are formed of, or that otherwise incorporate, such transmissive energy-scattering layers. Refractive indices of particles fixed in a matrix are tunable in order that the finished layers provide an opaque appearance when viewed from an energy-incident excited by light in the visible spectrum.
