Abstract: A display control device is configured to control image display of a display device for remote operation of a moving body by a remote operator. The display device includes a first screen that displays an intersection image captured by a camera installed at an intersection and imaging a traffic situation in an area of the intersection. The display control device includes one or more sensors configured to acquire intention information of the remote operator regarding right and left turns of the moving body, and a processor. The processor determines, in accordance with a traveling direction of the moving body in the intersection image and the intention information, a shape of a course image indicating a planned course of the moving body, and displays the course image in a superimposed manner on the intersection image while associating the course image with the moving body in the intersection image.

Abstract: A vehicle control apparatus is applied to a vehicle including a turning inner wheel, a turning outer wheel, and a limited slip differential. The vehicle control apparatus includes a target yaw moment setter, a target braking force setter, and a braking device. The target yaw moment setter sets a target yaw moment of the vehicle. The target braking force setter sets a target braking force to be added to the turning inner wheel based on the target yaw moment. The braking device adds a braking force to the turning inner wheel based on the target braking force. The target braking force setter incrementally corrects the target braking force based on a transmission torque transmitted from the turning inner wheel to the turning outer wheel by the limited slip differential.

Abstract: An internal combustion engine is connected to a transmission via a torque converter. The transmission includes a continuously variable transmission mechanism and a clutch. When the transmission is switched from the P range to the D range, a rotation speed of the internal combustion engine decreases with engagement of the clutch. In order to suppress engine stalling in cold climates, electric power generation of an alternator is stopped to reduce an electric power generation load when a speed difference between the rotation speed of the engine and an input rotation speed of the transmission becomes greater than or equal to a predetermined speed difference value. The electric power generation is restarted after a predetermined time period has elapsed since the input rotation speed of the transmission became lower than or equal to a second predetermined rotation speed value.

Abstract: This document describes techniques and systems for identifying and selecting a parking spot using radar-centric occupancy grid (RCOG) maps. An example system includes a processor that can identify available parking spots near a host vehicle using sensor data, including a radar occupancy grid (ROG) map. Parking-spot characteristics of each available parking spot are also determined using the sensor data. The processor can then determine a selected parking spot based on the parking-spot characteristics. The processor or another processor can then control operation of the host vehicle to park in the selected parking spot using an assisted-driving or autonomous-driving system and based on the parking-spot characteristics. In this way, the described system can identify, select, and navigate to a parking spot using a RCOG map without having to rely on infrastructure sensors or pass by open spots.

Abstract: Various systems and methods are presented regarding utilizing technology onboard an autonomous vehicle (AV) to mitigate the effects of communication signals being deleteriously affected/lost when the AV is navigating a road tunnel (e.g., where the AV is operating partially autonomously or autonomously). Prior to entering the tunnel, the AV can receive information regarding the length of the tunnel, etc., which the AV can then utilize to self-navigate the tunnel. To improve communications while in the tunnel, a second vehicle can act as a communication relay between the AV and an external navigation system (e.g., GNSS). The AV can also request an occupant drive the vehicle through the tunnel. In the event of an accident, the AV can transmit status reports to external entities such as police, traffic department, and suchlike.

Until the second signal indicates standstill, the first command continues to request the vehicle platform to provide deceleration.

Abstract: A risk estimation system estimates the degree of risk ahead of a vehicle. Three-dimensional object layout information indicates the three-dimensional layout of a three-dimensional object ahead of the vehicle. An intersecting road is a road that intersects a traveling road, which is a road on which the vehicle is traveling, at an intersection ahead of the vehicle. The risk estimation system sets a first area that extends from the intersection into the intersecting road by a first length. Based on the three-dimensional object layout information, the risk estimation system calculates the degree of blocking indicating a degree to which the first area is blocked by the three-dimensional object when seen from the position of the vehicle. After that, the risk estimation system calculates the degree of risk in such a way that the degree of risk increases as the degree of blocking is higher.
