Abstract: A pneumatic metering unit, which operates with vacuum pressure to dispense monograin seeds. Particularly, the pneumatic dispenser subject matter of the invention operates with low applied torque, while maintaining tightness in the vacuum chamber and keeping the working pressure constant, without variations or fluctuations due to the action of the seal, beyond the normal variations, due to the nature of the work, within the operating pressure threshold. In this sense, the reduction of necessary moving parts that could suffer jamming, as well as the implementation of an axial action spring that holds the seal in contact with the dosing plate in a constant way, regardless of the conditions and material characteristics of the seal, stand out.

Abstract: A feeding apparatus includes an accommodating tank, a diverting module, a discharge assembly, three optical sensors and a control module. The accommodating tank includes a bottom opening and accommodates the materials. The diverting module includes a driving unit and a blade unit. The blade unit is disposed at the accommodating tank and corresponds to the bottom opening. The discharge assembly includes a storage tank, a discharging opening and a pusher. The accommodating tank is disposed in the storage tank to form a storage space in the storage tank. The pusher moves between the bottom of the storage tank and the discharging opening. The three optical sensors are disposed on the storage tank and correspond to the storage space to form a high-level detection plane and a low-level detection plane. The control module connects to the driving unit, the pusher and the three optical sensors.

Abstract: System for determining distribution of time that a respective animal has spent in different zones of a barn during a predetermined time period. The system includes a Real-Time Location System, a database including position coordinates of the respective zones and a processing controller. The processing controller is configured to determine distribution of time by associating each obtained data entity with a respective zone based on the position coordinates of the respective information entity and the position coordinates of the zones; counting the number of data entities in each respective zone; and calculating an amount of time the animal has spent in the zone by multiplying the number of data entities of each respective zone with the regular time interval.

Abstract: A caustic paste applicator provides a self-contained adhesive patch that supports a ring of adhesive that is adhered to the calf s skin around the horn bud and an inner spot or dab of caustic paste that is applied over the horn bud to contact the horn bud. The patch shields the caustic paste from spreading and allows the adhesive to be used in conjunction with the caustic paste in a manner which does not cause the patch to lose its stickiness.

Abstract: A fish stringer apparatus for stringing fish together to anchor the fish while retaining the fish in water and to carry the fish includes a clasp and a pair of threading members. Each threading member of the pair of threading members extend away from the clasp. Each threading member includes a flexible cord with a rigid pin mounted on the end of the flexible cord. Each threading member is threadable through a gill and a mouth of a fish to string the fish onto the threading member. Each threading member is also drivable into a ground surface to anchor the fish stringer apparatus. The clasp is engageable with either threading member to create a closed loop for maintaining the fish on the threading member.

Abstract: Systems and methods for producing organisms that lack one or more undesired traits are disclosed. In some implementations, a method includes obtaining (or producing) a first parent organism of a donor family of breeding stock and obtaining (or producing) a second parent organism from a receptor family of breeding stock. Some implementations of the method include mating the first parent organism with the second parent organism to produce a progeny organism. In some cases, a combination of genetic material from the first parent organism and the second parent organism in the progeny organism prevents development of the undesired trait (or of an organism having the undesired trait). Other implementations are also described.

Abstract: A fishing reel with a lever drag mechanism is provided. A lever on the drag mechanism may be rotated forward or backward to engage or disengage the drag mechanism respectively. When the lever is rotated forward to engage the drag mechanism, a shaft may be pulled outwardly from the reel such that a plurality of drag washers are placed into contact with a plurality of drag plates. The drag washers may be coupled to a spool, and the drag plates may be coupled to a drag plate hub. As a result, when the drag mechanism is engaged, the drag washers may be frictionally coupled to the drag plates such that the spool is preferably coupled to the drag plate hub. When the drag mechanism is disengaged, the spool may rotate independently of the drag plate hub.
