Publication number: 20240303770Abstract: CNN-based methods for cross-view image geo-localization rely on polar transform and fail to model global correlation. A pure transformer-based approach (TransGeo) is described to address these limitations from a different perspective. TransGeo takes full advantage of the strengths of the transformer related to global information modeling and explicit position information encoding. The claimed invention further leverages transformer input's flexibility and discloses an attention-guided non-uniform cropping method so that uninformative image patches are removed with a negligible drop in performance to reduce computation cost. The saved computation can be reallocated to increase resolution only for informative patches, resulting in performance improvement with no additional computation cost. This “attend and zoom-in” strategy is highly similar to human behavior when observing images.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 17, 2024Publication date: September 12, 2024Inventors: Sijie ZHU, Chen CHEN, Mubarak SHAH

Publication number: 20240303794Abstract: In an example embodiment, two different neural networks are used in conjunction with each other to identify defects in items appearing in images. More particularly, a defect neural network is trained on images labeled with an indication of a defect type (or no defect) appears in an item in the image (with optionally an identification of the area in which the defect appears). Separately, a location neural network is trained on images that have a specific geometric shape (e.g., point, line, circle) labeled in the image. The labels identify not just the pixels that are part of the shape, but also provide a value that indicates a degree of the identification of the location. Surrounding pixels to the identified shapes are then given values according to a distribution that is based on distance from the shape, with the peak values being those pixels that are exactly on the identified shape.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 8, 2023Publication date: September 12, 2024Inventors: Weixiong Zheng, Kedao Wang

Publication number: 20240303804Abstract: Disclosed herein are related to a system, a method, and a non-transitory computer readable medium for simulating, predicting, or estimating, based on machine learning neural networks, wall stress of a body part. In one approach, a first neural network automatically detects features in multiple images of a body part. For example, the first neural network may detect, for each image, a lumen and a wall of an aorta. According to the detected features, a second neural network may simulate, estimate, or predict wall stress of the body part in response to pressure applied to the body part. For example, a model generator can generate a three-dimensional model of the body part according to the detected features in the multiple images, and the second neural network can simulate, estimate, or predict wall stress of the body part according to the three-dimensional model.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 14, 2020Publication date: September 12, 2024Applicant: University of Pittsburgh - Of the Commonwealth System of Higher EducationInventors: Timothy K.
