  • Patent number: 12137976
Abstract: An ophthalmic optical coherence tomography instrument, method, and computer-readable medium. The instrument includes a scanner defining an apparent point source for scanning sample light across a subject position and an objective having a posterior imaging configuration to project the apparent point source onto a pivot point between the objective and the subject position. The objective is settable between the posterior imaging configuration for scanning the sample light across a retina of an eye at the subject position and an anterior imaging configuration for scanning the sample light across a pivot plane. An axial region from which an interferogram is detectable extends across the pivot plane while the objective is in the anterior imaging configuration. A pupil alignment method uses the anterior imaging modality to obtain a structure position of a structure of an eye's anterior segment and then an offset between the structure position and a reference position.

  • Patent number: 12137980
Abstract: Systems and methods facilitate the planning and performance of hip and other surgeries. A computer model of a hip may be generated and displayed. A template of a hip component that replaces a native portion of the hip may be superimposed on the model. Changes in leg length, offset, or anterior-posterior (AP) position as well as a virtual distance between a landmark on the model and a location on the template may be determined. During surgery, a physical distance corresponding to the virtual distance may be obtained. The template may be moved relative to the model to match the physical distance, and new change values in leg length, offset, or anterior-posterior (AP) position may be determined. The new change values may be evaluated, and the surgery may proceed, or the process may be repeated using templates corresponding to alternative components.

  • Patent number: 12137988
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to interleaving electrical noise generating operations with impedance measurements in a medical localization system. The systems and methods continuously and simultaneously provide unique frequency drive signals, which are harmonics of a common base frequency, across electrode patches to generate an electrical field. Response signals electrodes in the electric field are measured and synchronously demodulated. A demodulated data stream is then filtered (e.g., decimated) to generate impedance-based values proportional to the location of the electrode for each unique frequency. The demodulated data stream into the filter is paused to allow operation of an electrical noise generating device such a magnetic field-based localization system. More specifically, the data stream is paused for a time period equal to an integer multiple of a base period of the common base frequency. This allows resuming filtering of the demodulated data stream free of any frequency discontinuity.

  • Patent number: 12138014
Abstract: Methods, devices and systems for confocal microscopy of human tissues or other samples are described that can be manufactured at a low cost, and are small and portable. One apertureless confocal microscope includes a dispersion element that produces output beams having different spectral components for illumination of a target, such as a tissue. The confocal microscope also includes one or more lenses that receive reflected beams from the target and focus the reflected beams onto a linear variable filter. The linear variable filter is positioned to receive the focused light to allow a particular range of spectral components of light to pass through the linear variable filter that is a function of a spatial location of the focused light incident on the linear variable filter. The described confocal microscopes, among other features and benefits, can greatly facilitate disease diagnosis in medical applications.

Abstract: A medical system may utilize a modular and extensible sensing device to derive a two-dimensional (2D) or three-dimensional (3D) human model for a patient in real-time based on images of the patient captured by a sensor such as a digital camera. The 2D or 3D human model may be visually presented on one or more devices of the medical system and used to facilitate a healthcare service provided to the patient. In examples, the 2D or 3D human model may be used to improve the speed, accuracy and consistency of patient positioning for a medical procedure. In examples, the 2D or 3D human model may be used to enable unified analysis of the patient's medical conditions by linking different scan images of the patient through the 2D or 3D human model. In examples, the 2D or 3D human model may be used to facilitate surgical navigation, patient monitoring, process automation, and/or the like.

Abstract: A method and apparatus of automatically locating in an image of a blood vessel the lumen boundary at a position in the vessel and from that measuring the diameter of the vessel. From the diameter of the vessel and estimated blood flow rate, a number of clinically significant physiological parameters are then determined and various user displays of interest generated. One use of these images and parameters is to aid the clinician in the placement of a stent. The system, in one embodiment, uses these measurements to allow the clinician to simulate the placement of a stent and to determine the effect of the placement. In addition, from these patient parameters various patient treatments are then performed.
