Baffles are provided in the grinding chamber, adjacent the interior wall thereof, concentrically about the drive shaft of the mill. The baffles are adjacent to the hammers in the area of hammer sweep and form a path for the material using the flow of air through the mill and the swing of hammers to keep material from falling within the mill and remaining in the hammer sweep area. A variable speed motor varies the rate of movement of the hammers to increase or decrease the rate of strike of hammers to more efficiently and effectively reduce the material passing therethrough. The baffles can be retrofit into existing mills and can be created in angular sections with the lining of the grinding chamber for modular installation and removal.

The controller then determines, based on signals from the optical detection assembly and pressure sensor, whether there is any air remaining in the centrifuge chamber. If so, the rotational rate is alternately decreased and increased until all the air has been cleared from the centrifuge chamber.

    Abstract: A system and method for cleaning used animal bedding generally made up of wood chips, manure, and urine. Large manure and debris are first separated from the used animal bedding. The remaining used animal bedding material is then mixed with a liquid to form a slurry. The slurry particles—other than the wood chips—are then reduced in size to facilitate the separation of the wood chips from the other slurry particles. Once separated, the wood chips can be reused as animal bedding. This system and method also provides for further processing of the remaining slurry particles into other products, such as mulch, fertilizer, and clean water.

The adjustable block assembly sets the spacing between two opposing draw-in surfaces, which, in turn, changes the amount of draw-in. Multiple adjustable block assemblies and draw-in sensors may be used in conjunction and controlled via a controlling system.
