  • Patent number: 12139087
Abstract: Methods and systems for estimating vital signs of vehicle occupants using Ultra-Wideband communication. UWB signals are transmitted from one UWB system node to another UWB system node. Channel impulse responses (CIRs) associated with the UWB signals are determined. Based on the CIRs, in some embodiments velocities associated with the UWB signals are determined, and activities of vehicle occupants are classified based on the CIRs along with vital signs such as breathing rates. In other embodiments, based on the CIRs, phase unwrapping of phase features associated with the CIRs is performed, and principle component analysis (PCA) transforms the CIRs, allowing estimated vital signs such as breathing rates to be determined.

Abstract: A vehicle brake system including: a pressurizing motor that is connected to a brake pedal and configured to increase a braking force that is generated; and a processor. The processor is configured with a program to perform operations including: operation as an information acquisition part to obtain information on whether a shift position of an automatic transmission is in a non-driving mode and information on operation on the brake pedal; and operation as a braking force controller to perform, when a predetermined retention condition is met, control of braking force so that a stationary state of a host vehicle is maintained. When the predetermined retention condition is met and the shift position is in the non-driving mode, the braking force controller is configured to perform control to increase the braking force that is generated using the pressurizing motor once the brake pedal is in a non-operated state.

Abstract: Techniques for determining classifications associated with vehicle behavior by a machine learned model are discussed herein. A computing device can combine a variety of classifier labels as input to train a machine learned model to determine classifications that represent a vehicle behavior as either good behavior or bad behavior. The machine learned model may receive weak classifier labels that classify an aspect of a vehicle behavior as “good,” “bad,” or “unknown” (relative to the classification) to generate training data for training the machine learning model. Data associated with a vehicle or simulated vehicle may be input to the trained machine learned model to classify good vehicle behavior or bad vehicle behavior even when the model has not been exposed to the precise scenarios represented in the training data.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and media for factoring localization uncertainty of an ADV into its planning and control process to increase the safety of the ADV. The uncertainty of the localization can be caused by sensor inaccuracy, map matching algorithm inaccuracy, and/or speed uncertainty. The localization uncertainty can have negative impact on trajectory planning and vehicle control. Embodiments described herein are intended to increase the safety of the ADV by considering localization uncertainty in trajectory planning and vehicle control. An exemplary method includes determining a confidence region for an ADV that is automatically driving on a road segment based on localization uncertainty and speed uncertainty; determining that an object is within the confidence region, and a probability of collision with the ADV based on a distance of the object to the ADV; and planning a trajectory based on the probability of collision, and controlling the ADV based on the probability of collision.
