Abstract: An automated farming machine can operate in low light environments (e.g., at night) using one or more lights, attached to a boom, to illuminate the ground surface of a field for cameras of the machine. The cameras capture images of the field, which the machine processes by identifying a region of interest (ROI) within the image and a plant within the ROI. The boom moves as the machine goes over uneven ground, causing the brightness captured in the images to change. The machine may analyze a portion of the ground surface that is illuminated to identify an ROI within the image. The machine identifies the ROI by comparing the brightness of the image to a threshold brightness level. The machine takes actions based on the ROI, such as spraying herbicide on a weed identified in the ROI at a certain time after identifying the weed.

Abstract: A device and method for irrigating and providing nutrients to plants and fungi, having a supply unit, which has an inlet that can be connected at least indirectly to a water and/or nutrient solution supply and which has an outlet through which water and/or nutrient solution can be dispensed in at least two locations that are positioned at different heights with respect to a vertical. The solution features the fact that the supply unit has a drive train (8), which can be connected to a drive unit, and at the outlet, has at least one nozzle, which is coupled to the drive train and is for dispensing the water and/or nutrient solution, wherein based on an activation of the drive train, the nozzle is movable to at least two locations positioned at different heights.

Abstract: Provided is a method for producing a banana plant with tolerance or resistance to Fusarium oxysporum Cubensis TR4 and such plants. The method includes (a) exposing one or more banana meristems, in one or more propagating cycles, to a medium including a demethylating agent (in vitro mutagenesis) to thereby provide one or more banana meristems exhibiting expression and thereby amplification of retrotransposable elements in their plant genome as determined by Southern blot hybridization analysis, and (b) rooting the meristems that exhibited the amplification and regenerating therefrom one or more regenerated banana plants, at least one of the regenerated banana plants having tolerance or resistance to Fusarium oxysporum Cubensis TR4.
