Abstract: Path planning may be performed using a configuration space parameterized, at least in part, by one or more variables corresponding to curvature for an object and/or velocity of the objects. The configuration space may be discretized using for maneuver types and/or maneuvers using 4D or 5D volumes or arrays of 3D volumes. A maneuver type and/or maneuver may correspond to a constant rate of change of curvature for the object. Corresponding maneuver types may then form respective clothoid maneuvers to model smooth or gradual changes to steering and curvature. The maneuvers and/or maneuver types that have varying curvature may span across an array of fixed curvature volumes (e.g., 3D volumes) as opposed to being confined to a single volume. A transition volume(s) may be used to represent the object being stopped while changing gear.

Abstract: Example embodiments relate to methods and systems for automatic problematic maneuver detection and adapted motion planning. A computing device may obtain a route for navigation by a vehicle and a set of vehicle parameters corresponding to the vehicle. Each vehicle parameter can represent a physical attribute of the vehicle. The computing device may generate a virtual vehicle that represents the vehicle based on the set of vehicle parameters and perform a simulation that involves the virtual vehicle navigating the route. Based on the results of the simulation, the computing device may provide the original route or a modified route to the vehicle for the vehicle to subsequently navigate to its destination. Abstract: A fail operational steering angle sensor for vehicles is provided. The fail operational Steering Angle Sensor comprises one central gear (hub) and two outer gears (Gear 1 and Gear 2) mechanically connected to the hub. The two outer gears have magnetic properties, and they are arranged in the vicinity of a Printed Circuit Board (PCB). The SAS Fail Operational is connected to a Steering Wheel Actuator shaft that, by means of a mechanical connection with the central gear, the two outer gears and a rotor arranged between the central gear and the PCB, provides angular rotation to the above-mentioned moving parts. The variations of the magnetic field and flux originated in the rotation of the mechanical parts will be determined by the PCB.

Abstract: System and method enable the automatic activation of turn signals according to the turning of a steering wheel. The method begins by detecting a current angular position of a steering wheel with an angular positioning sensor. The current angular position is relayed from the angular positioning sensor to a computing system. The left-turning signal can be activated, if the current angular position crosses over a left-turning positioning threshold. The right-turning signal can be activated, if the current angular position crosses over a right-turning positioning threshold.
