  • Patent number: 7171893
Abstract: A rotary press is supported on a frame allowing liquid and solid receivers to be placed underneath the rotary press. The rotary press has an outer ring and an inner drum. The inner drum has an upper and lower flange with a stripper ring retained between these flanges. The flanges form two sides of the cavity where the pressing takes place. The flanges carry the solids away from the pressing zone to a discharge zone where the stripper ring expels the solids. By transporting the solids away from the pressing zone where liquids are expelled, reabsorption of the liquid is avoided. The stripper ring can move relative to the two flanges and is biased against the outer ring by the inner ring. The stripper ring applies pressure to the material to be processed and also pushes solid material from between the upper and lower flanges to fall into a receiver for the solids.

  • Patent number: 5029310
Abstract: In a pressure developing device, employed in an image recording unit, including a pair of pressure developing rollers for pressurizing a material on which a visible image is to be developed through elastic springs, provided are backup rollers arranged to be brought into contact with each of the pair of pressure developing rollers. Thus, a pressure force generated between the pair of pressure developing rollers are uniformly applied to the material along a direction which the pair of pressure developing rollers are extended. Further, a pressure force, i.e., a length of each of the elastic springs is arranged to be adjusted from the outside of the pressure developing device with a simple operation by means of a screw and so forth.

  • Patent number: 5012730
Abstract: Press roll with a tubular cylinder, featuring on each of its two ends a roll head with a journal, specifically for use in a roll press consisting of the press roll and a backing roll with controlled deflection, for the treatment of web type material such as a paper web or the like. The inside surface of the tubular cylinder is so shaped across the web width that the shape of the flex line of the tubular cylinder will approximate during operation the flex line of the roll shell of the backing roll. This yields a press roll having a relatively thin-walled tubular cylinder which is lightweight. Nonetheless, an extensively constant line force is achieved in the press gap of the roll press across the web width.

  • Patent number: 4986178
Abstract: Holding arrangement for a device directed against a linearly adjustable roll, such as a doctor blade, blowing device or similar. On a holding arrangement for a device for surface treatment of the roll shell, directed against a linearly adjustable roll, where the roll is endways mounted through a bearing housing each in a machine frame, where for each bearing housing a cylinder/piston unit is provided for displacement of the roll, and where the roll is removable from the machine frame together with the bearing housings, a holder plate is arranged between the bearing housing and the piston of the cylinder/piston unit, which holder plate is connected with a support bearing for the device for surface treatment of the roll shell. Available is thus a holding arrangement of the categorial type which relative to the roll is well adjustable, which need not be lifted off as the roll contacts the opposite roll and which overall can be so integrated that it remains on the machine frame as the roll is lifted off.

  • Patent number: 4959117
Abstract: An apparatus for pressing laminated composites formed of two glass layers and one interposed thin plastic layer presses the glass/plastic composite while the glass/plastic composite is in a vertical position. A horizontal conveyor delivers the composite to the apparatus, and a tipping device places the composite in a vertical position. A suction cup unit, which is rotatably mounted on a supporting shaft, receives the composite from the tipping device. A movable carriage moves the supporting shaft, suction cup unit, and composite to a pair of pressing rolls. The pressing rolls receive the composite therebetween and press the composite layers together. Another rotatably mounted suction cup unit removes the composite from the pressing rolls and delivers the composite to another conveyer. The arrangement allows highly curved glass/plastic composites to be pressed with no risk of breaking the glass and without requiring manual intervention.

  • Patent number: 4796525
Abstract: A roll arrangement for calendars or super-calendars is provided by the combination of two rolls which together form a press nip wherein one of the rolls is solely deflection-controllable and the other roll is solely temperature-controllable zone by zone. The temperature-controllable roll has a tubular rotatable roll shell and a stationary core extending through the roll shell. The space between the roll shell and the core is divided by means of several peripheral seals into numerous annular chambers. A flow of fluid is guided through each of the annular chambers. The fluid temperature in each annular chamber is independently controllable. Consequently the temperature-controlled roll shell can be heated by the fluid to different degrees along the axis thereof to control its external diameter along each zone. The peripheral seals are sized to have free play in a direction transverse to the roll axis and are constructed as endless, metallic rings.
