  • Patent number: 9351569
Abstract: An apparatus for storing and presenting parts to a robot for automated tending of various manufacturing processes. The method and apparatus allow for an operator, human or other tending robot, to open and place parts into a series of vertically stacked drawers within an enclosure. On the opposing side of the enclosure is the production side where a robot opens an individual drawer and while the drawer is open, successively picks out parts for use in the manufacturing processes as it is programmed to do. The part may or may not be placed back into the drawer based on the part manufacturing process. The robot then closes the drawer and successively cycles through the drawers, opening them on the production side and once the parts have been processed, closing them. The operator then successively opens each drawer, removes any processed parts, if placed back into the drawer as dictated by the part manufacturing process, refills the drawer with new parts and then closes it.

  • Patent number: 5613435
Abstract: In a method for palletizing tube sections of paper or similar materials closed by means of a longitudinally glued seam into a tube form for producing sacks or bags, the tube sections are supplied in the form of tube packages from a tube machine with loading equipment to a palletizing apparatus. The tube packages are turned over individually or in groups with this loading equipment to a respective supporting base of a multideck pallet and held, compressed flat on their respective supporting base in a storage position of the pallet between the process of palletizing and a later depalletizing. To implement a palletizing process, the respective tube package is lifted into the loader and then moved into the pallet into a position, in which it is a distance above the supporting base. When it reaches the intended position, it carries out a vertical deposition motion and is deposited on the supporting base.

  • Patent number: 5472556
Abstract: A simple combination of conventional operations uses a twin press configuration of tandem stationary, vertically acting heating and cooling platen presses in separate frames which share a fixed, hybrid bottom platen in a laminating machine. The machine therefore has aligned daylight openings ("daylights"). A set of sheets to be laminated is sandwiched between cover plates of a book which is loaded by rollingly transferring it with an edge-conveyor means, into the heating press. The path in which the book is processed ("process-path") starts at an entrance station and progresses linearly through the daylights. The system operates with a minimum cycle time based on the physical properties of the sheets to be laminated. Successive books may be loaded, in a machine using only two single daylight openings; or, in ganged single daylights; depending upon the capacity per unit time sought. A novel quick-locking carrier is provided in which a sandwich to be laminated is held.

One is at right angles to the path in which the book is to be processed ("process-path") so as to avoid using an entrance station. The other uses an entrance station which provides a loading-path parallel to the processing path through daylight openings ("daylights") in the presses, so as to support each book on the edge-conveyor means while it is stationary and coplanar with the loading-path. • Patent number: 4773996
Abstract: An apparatus for dewatering primary dewatered sludge pieces conditioned with dewatering powders comprises: a first member having a recess and a path communicating with the recess, a fluid-tight diaphragm mounted over the recess thereby defining a fluid chamber with which the path communicates, a second member having a filtrate member, and a filter member provided over the filtrate chamber. At least one of the first member and the second member is mounted to bring them into fluid-tight contact with each other, and the primary dewatered sludge pieces into a cavity defined by the diaphragm and the filter member. A pressure fluid then is fed to the fluid chamber, thereby isostatically compressing the primary dewatered sludge pieces to remove the water contained therein without substantially destroying the inner structures of the primary dewatered sludge pieces. Because of this isostatic pressure exerted by the diaphragm, the sludge pieces are compressed highly uniformly, resulting in high dewatering efficiency.

  • Patent number: 4065003
Abstract: A mat loading and press-tray unloading apparatus for a multi-level press having a plurality of plates for the manufacture of boards includes a raisable and lowerable structure. A set of loading and unloading levels are connected to the raisable and lowerable structure, each set corresponding in number to the number of press levels. The loading and unloading levels are arranged such that at one end of the structure at least two loading levels are directly adjacent to each other, at the other end of the structure at least two unloading levels are directly adjacent to each other, and at an intermediate portion of the structure at least one unloading level is disposed between two loading levels. The apparatus also includes means for raising and lowering the structure, and means for feeding the levels.

  • Patent number: 4043733
Abstract: A guide arrangement for endless belts of a continuously operating press which belts are guided by a plurality of rolls arranged on a semi-circular track disposed at the inlet and/or outlet zone of the press and at the upper and/or lower press sections. The respective ends of each of the rolls are pivotally arranged in bearings with each of the bearings being associated with a disk-shaped member fashioned as a half ring. One or both of the disk-shaped members are movable in a controlled manner along a semi-circular track whereby the steel belt is secured against lateral movement.

  • Patent number: 4042125
Abstract: Method and apparatus for producing pressed board and the like in a tiered, multi-opening press, in which the sheet blanks are deposited individually on conveyor platens which are conveyed by conveyor means successively at predetermined intervals to a stacking device. In the stacking device, a predetermined number of platens with their superposed board blanks are successively raised above the conveyor means into retained contact with one another to form a stacked assembly of platens and board blanks. When the predetermined number of platens and board blanks have been stacked, the assembly is lowered onto the conveyor means and transported to tiered racks in an elevator device by which they are successively elevated into alignment with the tiered openings in the multi-opening press to be pressed into board units in a single pressing operation.

  • Patent number: 4017246
Abstract: A pressure plate assembly for hardboard presses in which a thin metal sheet for supporting the material to be compressed into hardboard is inserted between the pressure plates. The thin metal sheet extends beyond the edges of the press plates and is bent downwardly along two opposing sides thereof to impart substantial rigidity to the overhanging portions and to provide a draining surface for the compressed material. The other two opposing edges of the metal sheet form projections having thickened reinforcement edges.

  • Patent number: 3977535
Abstract: A stack of sheets is loaded between the platens of a press by an apparatus which grips the stack along its opposite edges flanking a transport direction and holds the stack by these edges as it displaces the stack in the transport direction between the platens. Thereafter one of these edges is released to drop this edge onto the lower platen and, once the one edge is on the platen, the other edge is released so as to drop the rest of the stack on the lower platen. The lower platen is heated so as to slightly adhere the lowermost sheet of the stack to this platen and thereby further prevent shifting of the sheets of the stack relative to one another prior to hot-pressing thereof.

  • Patent number: 3966380
Abstract: There is disclosed a method and apparatus for molding rubber or similar products, involving the use of a press which is disclosed as being vertically arranged with hydraulic operation being provided by a hydraulic piston and cylinder apparatus which includes means for moving a series of platens upwardly to compress therebetween certain molds which are inserted therein, the platens being adapted to be suspended in open condition when the hydraulic means is appropriately actuated, there being provided at each side of the press a series of mold supports which are arranged to move as by swinging from the side of the press around into position to permit molds carried thereby to be inserted in and withdrawn from the press, the contemplation being that sequential operation of these mold supports will be effected whereby molds may be loaded with raw material while a previously loaded series of molds is in the press between the platens thereof, said last named series being withdrawn and the first series now loaded arr
