  • Patent number: 6113383
Abstract: An injection molding machine with a substantially C-shaped machine frame has one leg on which a stationary die platen is mounted and another leg on which a closing mechanism for driving a movable die platen is mounted. An articulated part which comprises a girder extending in the longitudinal direction of the machine is arranged between at least one die platen and the machine frame and is- deformed when a closing force is applied which tips the die platen in relation to the associated leg of the machine frame. The horizontal central axis (8) of the die platen, which is determined by a centering mechanism of the die, extends completely inside the girder (6) and the cross-section of the articulated part (7) increases in size in the same direction, starting from the central girder (6).

  • Patent number: 6076455
Abstract: An aluminum can crushing mechanism includes a support base which has a pair of support members extending from it. Situated between the support members is a pair of compacting plates. The compacting plates utilize a pair of alignment rods, one plate having the alignment rods affixed therewithin and the other plate being functionally adapted to be movable along the alignment rods. Rotatably affixed to the movable plate is a handle member which, when rotated from a generally upwardly extending position to a downward position, causes the compacting plates to move towards each other thereby compacting an aluminum can located between the compacting plates. When the handle member is rotated upwardly, the compacted can drops out from the mechanism without further handling of it.

  • Patent number: 5891488
Abstract: The invention relates to a mold closing device without cross-beam for an injection molding machine having a C-shaped machine frame, a fixed tool mounting plate supported therein and an end plate, as well as a movable tool mounting plate longitudinally movable on antifriction guideways and guide bars. It is the object of the invention to provide an inexpensive and simple adjustment which assures the concentricity between the fixed tool mounting plate and the end plate during deformation of the machine frame as a result of the closing force and which eliminates the machining tolerances among the hinge points on the guide bars. The solution provides that the guide bars are horizontally frictionally attached to the machine frame, are vertically biasable via springs against the fixed tool mounting plate and against the end plate, and are supportable via springs between the end plate and the fixed tool mounting plate.

  • Patent number: 4954068
Abstract: A hydraulic press has a generally horizontal press plate vertically movably supported in a press stand; a hydraulic press cylinder unit mounted in the press stand above the press plate and having a power cylinder and a piston rod longitudinally slidably received in the power cylinder and extending from the power cylinder to the press plate; and a hydrostatic floating bearing assembly arranged on a surface of the press plate. The lower terminus of the piston rod projects into a hydraulic chamber of the bearing assembly. The latter includes an annular body surrounding the piston rod terminus and being coaxial therewith; and a sealing ring positioned between the annular body and the surface of the press plate. The sealing ring sealingly engages the annular body and the press plate surface and has a working inner diameter which is smaller than the diameter of the lower terminus of the piston rod.

  • Patent number: 4954067
Abstract: A hydraulic press has a press stand; a generally horizontal press plate vertically movably supported in the press stand and arranged for executing forward and return strokes; and a plurality of hydraulic press cylinder units mounted in the press stand above the press plate. Each press cylinder unit has a power cylinder and a plunger slidably received in the power cylinder and extending from the power cylinder to the press plate. There are further provided a plurality of hydrostatic bearings mounted on the press plate; and a chamber defined with each hydrostatic bearing and containing hydraulic fluid. The lower terminus of the plunger projects into the chamber. The hydrostatic bearings constitute a force-transmitting arrangement between the plungers and the press plate and permit a tilting motion of the plungers relative to the press plate. Guide assemblies are mounted at the end of each power cylinder for sealingly and tiltably guiding the plunger.

  • Patent number: 4890552
Abstract: A can crusher comprises a bottom plate and a handle that rotate about a first axis. A top plate is slidable along the handle. A link pivotally connects the top plate to a second axis offset from the first axis. Rotating the handle and bottom plate tends to revolve the top plate away from the second axis, but the link keeps the top plate at a fixed distance from the second axis by controlling the top plate to slide along the handle toward the bottom plate. A can or other object placed between the top and bottom plates is crushed between them as the handle rotates. The handle normally rotates from a vertical attitude toward a horizontal attitude during the crushing operation. The handle and bottom plate can rotate to a stable rest configuration below the first axis.

  • Patent number: 4828474
Abstract: A press has upper and lower platens which can be moved towards and away from one another. Four hydraulic leveling cylinders are mounted in a vertical orientation on the lower platen for purposes of platen parallelism control. In preferred form, each cylinder has a piston rod which engages an associated post on the upper platen as the platens approach one another. The piston rod and associated piston are formed with a longitudinal bore open at the upper piston rod end, and a rigid shaft is mounted in the bore with a lower end extending through the bottom of the cylinder housing. A coil spring in the interior of the piston rod urges the rigid shaft upwardly until a collar formed on the shaft engages a stop surface, the upper shaft end then being flush with the upper piston rod end. The associated post is fixed to the upper press platen in-line with the piston rod and has an internal passage in which is located a stud-like shaft that engages the rigid shaft mounted in the piston rod.

  • Patent number: 4694744
Abstract: A 2000 ton hydraulic press is designed to eliminate the side slabs and substantial cross-head associated with conventional presses. The press simply has a base that includes a lower platen and bolster plate. Four vertical posts extend upwardly through the lower platen bolster plate, and guide structure beneath the lower platen bolster plate constrains the posts to move vertically while bearing horizontal forces and bending moments which may be applied to posts for example during compression of a mold containing a molding charge. Four large-bore, short-stroke hydraulic cylinders are attached to the base below the lower platen bolster plate, and serve to raise and lower the posts during compression phases of operation.

  • Patent number: 4615857
Abstract: Injection or transfer molding of plastic is performed in a manner that virtually eliminates flash. Deflection of the mold press is measured with the mold press in a clamping configuration. Then the support structure of the molds is arranged to apply an equal force to the mold face by configuring supporting pillars and bars such that they act as individual springs. Their spring constants and/or lengths are calculated to account for the actual deflection found in the mold press, thereby, producing a uniform pressure on the molds during clamping of the press.
