Combined With Mechanical Actuation Patents (Class 100/270)
  • Patent number: 4155301
Abstract: A fly press has a frame and a press screw rotatably mounted in said frame, and a flywheel attached for rotation with the press screw at one end, and a hydraulically driven ram rotatably attached to the other end of the press screw. An upper thrust bearing appears at one side of the frame for engagement by the flywheel, and a lower thrust bearing appears at the other side of the frame for engagement by a collar carried by the press screw. The upper and lower thrust bearings are spring biased in opposite directions. The abutment for the upper press bearing is engaged without impact when the collar disengages from the lower thrust bearing after the press blow to reduce the destructive effects on the bearing by press blows and return of the ram.

  • Patent number: 4080860
Abstract: A fluid piston actuated press is provided with a fixed portion, such as a die, and a plurality of movable portions, such as punches, which move reciprocally along paths which intersect the fixed portion. A plurality of levers, actuated by an actuating means, engage the movable portions to cause them to move along their paths intersecting the fixed portion.

  • Patent number: 4015520
Abstract: A stack-forming machine is provided with press reciprocating mechanism which tilts said press during reciprocation of the latter from a substantially horizontal position at or near the lower limit of press travel to a canted position at the upper limit of press travel wherein the front of the press adjacent the crop loader is above the rear of the press. A first embodiment of the invention utilizes interconnected two-bar linkages, one of which has a lost motion connection between its links; a second embodiment utilizes interconnected parallel and skewed four-bar linkages to tilt the press; while yet a third embodiment utilizes two-bar linkages of unequal length to accomplish press tilting.

  • Patent number: 3935778
Abstract: The subject invention involves apparatus for simultaneously actuating a plurality of piston and cylinder assemblies which are used to drive the movable platen of a cutting press. The instant press has a platen driven by four piston and cylinder assemblies, each assembly being connected to a source of pressurized fluid through an appropriate spool valve. The spool valves are actuated simultaneously by the movement of a pair of actuator bars which are interconnected for coordinated movement through bell cranks to a single piston and cylinder drive means.
