One has to load the flour and water in their respective containers and every other step is automated.

After the bottle is folded, a band, tape or strap is wrapped around the compacted bottle to maintain the compacted shape of the bottle. The apparatus includes holding pins to hold the empty bottle in a vertical or horizontal relationship and a rotating arm that folds the empty bottle upon itself. In another embodiment an empty bottle is placed in the holding pins and manually wrapped into a cylinder around the holding pins. After the bottle is crushed it is withdrawn from the holder wrapped and stored in a recycling container for reclaiming.

To improve the drive rigidity as regards a forming machine and to be able to improve the drive-unit design and to relatively easily match the drive unit to the specific requirements of different forming methods, the gear transmission offers a periodically varying transmission ratio, at least two mutually engaging non-circular gears being used of which the pitch curves are designed in such manner that in conjunction with the knuckle-joint drive, and especially in conjunction with a subsequent crank drive, the motions of the ram will be optimally matched thereby to the particular work method.

The invention provides for the actuating mechanism to be embodied as a bridge (17) which holds the straightening ram in the vertical alignment of the workpiece and which can be moved in a vertical plane by means of the drive mechanism. This design assures precise, directionally accurate straightening of the workpiece with a simple method of construction.

With this construction, a periodic inertial load fluctuation, repeatedly produced for every revolution during the operation of the mechanical press, is compensated for by the system for reserving energy, and hence is canceled, thereby balancing the energy, so that variations in rotation of the input shaft are eliminated, thereby reducing vibrations and noises.

After crushing, the cans drop into a container past the outer end of a can stop. The stop is counterbalanced so that empty cans will be retained in the crushing zone for flattening, while partially full containers displace this and fall through. The drive mechanism for the ram is provided by a compound eccentric cam having thrust and retraction faces, and first and second roller followers for engaging these. Preferably, the assembly is mounted in a cabinet for inclusion in a stand of vending machines.
