The roller includes a first seal plate adjacent an end of the roller casing mounted in a fixed position relative to the axle and extending radially outwards towards the roller casing, and a second seal plate located between the first seal plate and the bearing mounted for rotation with the roller casing and extending radially inwards towards the axle and located axially inwards from the first seal plate to provide a space between the first and second seal plates. The first seal plate includes an opening in a lower portion through which waste crop material can escape outwards from the space between the first and second seal plates.
