  • Patent number: 10737497
Abstract: A wipe unit of the present disclosure includes a wiper, a wiper carriage, a wiper fixing member and a recovery tray. The recovery tray is arranged below the wiper, and includes a tray surface that recovers the ink wiped off with the wiper. The tray surface is inclined with respect to a horizontal plane, and makes the recovered ink flow in a predetermined direction so as to collect the recovered ink. The wiping portion is formed with the wiper and the wiper fixing member, and the wiping portion includes an ink drop portion which drops the ink wiped off with the wiper to the tray surface. The ink drop portion is formed such that the length thereof in a width direction orthogonal to the wiping direction is reduced as the ink drop portion is extended downward.

  • Patent number: 10029416
Abstract: Polymer spray deposition systems and methods are disclosed that can be used with a wide range of thermoplastic materials to produce high resolution objects having the complexity and structural integrity typically only achieved using more traditional manufacturing techniques, like injection molding processes. The polymeric spray deposition systems and methods use a spray generator that stretches the fluid between two diverging surfaces, such as two rollers or between two pistons. The stretched fluid breaks apart into a plurality of droplets and is guided through a delivery system, that can include an optional droplet size selector, and into a multi-nozzle array. The multi-nozzle array is controlled and directs the spray onto a target surface, thereby creating a three-dimensional object. The disclosed polymer spray deposition systems and methods can be used in three-dimensional print heads and printing techniques.

Abstract: A measurement field allows determining the smearing limit during printing, in particular during lithographic wet offset printing. The measurement field is arranged on a printing form, in particular a printing plate, which has printing, ink-carrying regions and nonprinting, dampening solution-carrying regions on its surface. A dampening solution-carrying property in the region of the measurement field is reduced by a nanoscopic coating (e.g., with amphiphilic molecules) or an unscreened, microscopic coating (e.g., a polymer coating) in comparison with the dampening solution-carrying property in the nonprinting regions of the surface of the printing form. The nanoscopic coating or the microscopic coating advantageously leads to a shifting of the smearing limit, that is to say to a displacement of the starting point of scumming, by the dampening solution requirement which is increased for scum-free printing within the region of the measurement field.

Abstract: A printing unit having a press unit is disclosed. Damping solution is applied to a form cylinder by way of direct damping-solution supply via a damping unit in such a way that a damping-solution applicator roll which is set away from an ink distributor roll and is driven by way of friction by the form cylinder rolls only on the form cylinder and thus applies the damping solution to the form cylinder only directly via the damping-solution applicator roll. In the event of indirect damping-solution supply in which the damping-solution applicator roll rolls exclusively on the ink distributor roll and is driven by way of friction by the ink distributor roll, in order to switch over to direct damping-solution supply, the damping-solution applicator roll is set away from the ink distributor roll more quickly than the damping unit, and thus the damping-solution applicator roll, is set against the form cylinder.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for driving a printing press, which are capable of easily and properly performing a water process on a processless plate so that the labor of an operator can be lessened, and also capable of printing that employs the processless plate in order to suppress an increase in the make ready time of the printing press itself and an increase in waste paper due to the water process. The apparatus includes plate determining means for determining whether a printing plate placed on a plate cylinder (31b to 34b) of a printing unit by plate exchange is the processless plate. The apparatus further includes control means 9 which, if the printing plate is determined to be the processless plate by the plate determining means, performs control so that the plate cylinder (31b to 34b) is rotated at a preset speed without actual contact with printing paper and also the water process is performed only for a preset period of time.
