Abstract: Reproductions of works of art or other artifacts in which the surface irregularities are reproduced as well as the colors of the original, are prepared by forming a mold which reproduces in negative form the surface irregularities of the original, preparing a transparent moldment in said mold, preparing a photographic reproduction of the original to the same scale as the moldment, and joining the moldment and the reproduction in registry. The mold may be prepared either by casting on the original work of art or artifact to be reproduced, or on a reproduction prepared manually by a skilled artisan, the latter technique making it possible to vary the scale of the reproduction. Where the scale of the mold is different from that of the original, the scale of the photographic reproduction is changed correspondingly.

Abstract: Process for printing long-piled material, particularly for imitating the hides of animals. In the process, in a continuous passage and in one or more steps, varying quantities of a coloring paste, according to a predetermined design, are imprinted at least on the back of the pile material while it is held under tension. After imprinting, the coloring paste is pressed into the pile material by mechanical force applied by pressure rollers. If both the front and the back of the material are to be printed, color paste is first imprinted on the front and the material then pressed, after which color paste is imprinted on the back of the material and the material pressed again.Apparatus for performing the process comprises printing units through which the material passes under tension, and a pressing unit is provided between each two successive printing units.

Abstract: A method for coloring, dyeing-in or inking absorptive, rough surface paper, particularly paper which is subsequently saturated and/or impregnated with a solution of a heat-hardenable synthetic resin and then dried and pressed on a substrate, such as, wood panels, with as thin as possible a layer of coloring agent having an optically uniform coloring, in which the paper is colored by applying a magnetic roller coloring process thereto and, before or after such coloring, the paper is printed by a copperplate intaglio printing process or a flexographic (flexo-relief) printing process.

Abstract: Halftone, multicolor printed effects are achieved by special preparation of art work in the desired pre-selected colors without blending and the use of only white as a diluent of color strength, forming color separated line-engraved press plates therefrom and applying the separate colors by offset printing to the workpiece without overprinting. A novel method and apparatus for producing halftone effect printing using these line-engraved press plates for printing cylindrical objects, and more particularly, cans of the two-piece type.
