In embodiments, the bullet comprises copper and a polymer binder. In embodiments, the bullet has a forward tapering portion with a central cavity, a first cylindrical portion with a first diameter and a cylindrical surface directly rearward of the tapering portion, a cylindrical driving band directly rearward of the first cylindrical portion, the cylindrical driving band having a second diameter greater than the first diameter and having an outer second cylindrical surface, a third cylindrical portion directly rearward of the cylindrical driving band, the third cylindrical portion having a third cylindrical surface with a diameter equal to the first diameter.

The pin has a firing end portion that is disposed at a front end thereof and that extends into the through hole in the pin holder, and a central axis aligned with that of a rimfire cartridge along the front-to-rear direction. A front end of the firing end portion of the firing pin has a diameter larger than the inner diameter of the annular primer and smaller than the outer diameter of the annular primer.

    Abstract: The boresight laser aiming system for firearms provides a laser aiming beam through the mechanical action (20), chamber, and barrel (36) of the operable firearm (10) and through a specially configured live rimfire cartridge within the chamber, enabling a marksman to place the laser upon the target and fire the weapon simultaneously. The laser device (12) may be installed concentrically with a light passage through the bolt (22), hammer, or other mechanism of the firearm, or may be offset with the light path guided by one or more reflective mirrors, prisms, etc. The firearm may comprise a rifle (10), semiautomatic pistol, revolver, etc. The live cartridge has concentric inner and outer tubes defining a toroidal explosive charge-containing chamber therebetween and a light passage through the innermost tube, and a bullet having a passage therethrough allowing light to pass through the live cartridge assembly when placed in the firearm chamber.

    Abstract: A cartridge assembly 10 includes a shell 12 containing a propellant charge 19. At a rear, open end, the shell 12 holds a force amplifying initiating device 20, in turn holding a rim fire primer 22 in operative association with the propellant 19. A firing pin body 40 is movably held within the device 40 to expose a rear of the body 40 to a shock wave to initiate the device 20. A fore end of the body 40 includes a taper formation 48 having a rounded fore point 50 aligned with an inactive surface of the primer 22 centrally within a firing rim. Inadvertent (mechanical) actuation of the firing pin 40 will fall to cause sufficient and sufficiently fast impingement on the primer to initiate the primer. Only a shock wave can cause initiation. The primer 22 is held in a collar 34 allowing it to flare open upon initiation and holding it within the shell 12 after initiation.

As a result, the opening (13) of the indentation (10) is reduced in size toward the interior of the cartridge case (2).

Conventional shotgun ammunition cannot be fired with the tool, and cartridges for the tool cannot be fired by a conventional shotgun.

    Abstract: A method of manufacturing an improved lead-free primed rimfire cartridge for ammunition or industrial powerloads providing a gas source for driving fasteners with power-fastening tools. A lead-free priming mixture is consolidated into an annular cavity of a rimfire casing and dried in the cavity. The primer is secured in the cavity by tamping at least a portion of propellant into the casing against and over the dried primer. The tamping pressure per casing may range from 1,300 psi to 8,800 psi. Any remaining portion of required propellent is added over the tamped compacted propellant layer. The ammunition and powerload casings are then sealed and finished in a conventional manner. A rimfire cartridge for both ammunition and industrial powerload applications manufactured as described above is also provided.

    Abstract: A muzzle ejecting sabot cartridge firearm system for use in a weapon having an elongated gun barrel, an action mechanism, and an elongated bolt mounted within the bore of the action mechanism. The bore of the action mechanism and the bore of the gun barrel are in co-axial alignment and the forward end of the action mechanism is in communication with the rear end of the gun barrel. The bolt has an elongated bore extending inwardly from its base end that communicates with a relieved portion in the front face of the bolt to allow passage of gases released from a cartridge that has been fired. The diameter of the bore of the action mechanism is greater than the diameter of the bore of the gun barrel thereby forming a shoulder at the front end of the action mechanism that functions to capture the peripheral rim along the back end of a sabot cartridge at the initial stage of firing the cartridge.
