Abstract: A powder actuated tool with a safety trigger lock device has a handle assembly, a barrel assembly and a switch. The handle assembly has a trigger. The trigger is mounted pivotally in the handle assembly and has an actuating edge. The barrel assembly is mounted in the handle assembly and has a firing mechanism and a sear corresponding to the trigger. The switch has an actuating rod mounted rotatably in a handle assembly and has a surface and a recess. The recess is defined in the surface of the actuating rod and selectively receives the actuating edge of the trigger. Users can turn the switch to make the recess receives the actuating edge of the trigger to allow the trigger pivoting or to make the surface of the actuating rod abut the actuating edge of the trigger to keep the trigger from pivoting.

Abstract: The technical field of the invention is that of pyrotechnic actuators comprising a piston, the basic function of which is to exert a thrust so as to displace an object by shooting out the piston. More particularly, the invention relates to a pyrotechnic actuator (1, 1a, 1b, 1c) comprising a pyrotechnic-gas generator (7), a combustion chamber (3) and a piston (9) which can move in a slide chamber (5) under the effect of the said gases. The principal characteristic of this actuator is that it comprises a shut-off device (4, 4a, 4b, 4c) used after the triggering of the said actuator (1, 1a, 1b, 1c) in order, on the one hand, to close the slide chamber (5) and, on the other hand, to secure the depressurization of the combustion chamber (3).

  • Patent number: 7207597
Abstract: When a gas generating agent 9a inside a first combustion chamber 5a is burnt, a gas generating agent 9b is prevented from being burnt by function of a metal thin plate 11 closing a communication hole 10 with a second combustion chamber 5b. A cup 1190 having a hole 1191 is covered on an igniter 1112, and the flame thereof advances into a transfer charge 1116 straightly in a narrow width. Accordingly, since the transfer charge 1116 is burnt completely, sufficient flame for burning a gas generating agent 1109 can be generated securely. A communication hole 3010 between a first combustion chamber 3005a and a second combustion chamber 3005b is closed by double-layered seal tape 3011 laminated through an adhesive layer. After activation, the seal tapes 3011 are not ruptured due to increase in the internal pressure of the first combustion chamber 3005a, but they are peeled off easily due to increase in the internal pressure of the second combustion chamber 3005b.

  • Patent number: 7173540
Abstract: A flash-bang projectile that generates one or more noise pulses and one or more flashes of light. In generating a noise pulse, the flash-bang projectile provides a housing that includes a gas chamber that entraps air. The gas chamber includes a compression device that, when the flash-bang projectile is shot or otherwise ejected by a gun or other form of ejection device, compresses the air that is entrapped in the gas chamber. A burst disk forms one wall of the gas chamber and is configured to rupture a selected time delay after the air has been compressed. Rupturing of the burst disk releases the compressed air entrapped in the gas chamber, allowing the air to be released through a horn nozzle, thereby generating a noise pulse. The flash-bang projectile may have more than one gas chambers, with associated compression devices, whose burst disks are configured to rupture with diverse time delays, in which case the flash-bang projectile can generate multiple noise pulses with corresponding delays.
