Publication number: 20090140503Abstract: Skibobs are disclosed having features for conveying the skibob with rider on a moving chairlift while the rider remains mounted on the seat of the skibob. The frame and suspension are configured for elevating the underside of the skibob seat above the level of the chairlift bench during loading, so that the chairlift bench, while moving forward from behind the rider, can pick up the skibob, rider and all, and carry the mounted rider up the ski slope without falling. As the undercarriage of the skibob is lifted off the snow, the rider is deposited on the chairlift bench so that the seat of the skibob is secured in place by the weight of the rider on the seat.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 25, 2008Publication date: June 4, 2009Inventors: Robert Kolesar, William J. Publication number: 20080121133Abstract: The invention concerns a pneumatic or hydraulic telescopic system comprising cylinders concentric at several diameters inserted in the vertical structure of the support pylons (1) and in the departure and arrival stations (14, 16), between the concrete pillar (1) and the nave of the station (15). The sensors are applied on either side of the vehicles (17, 19), facing their forward movement direction, having a reading angle including the entire width of the vehicles. The pneumatic or hydraulic telescopic system (2) is operable: in the support pylons, to adapt the vehicles at the appropriate levels as they travel, causing them to rise or drop depending on the contour of the terrain; in the stations, to compensate the tension of the cable if required. The sensors (18) are operable to analyze the contour of the terrain and inform the control center to actuate the system in accordance with the requirements.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 15, 2005Publication date: May 29, 2008Inventor: Americo Cesar Sousa Jaques

Patent number: 6938554Abstract: The object of the invention is a releasing method and a releasing member for releasing a towed device from a cableway at a desired point without an assisting person or without stopping the lift. According to the method a towing member (2) connected to the towing rope (10) of the towing apparatus (5) of the cableway (4) is released from the clutch member (1) in the towed device by changing the vertical towing angle (R) between the towing member (2) and the clutch member (1) at the release point. In order to change the angle, a releasing member (3), developed for the method and mounted at the release point, is used, whereby the member has a vertical section (V) arranged intersectingly on the towing line at a height, which allows the towed device to pass below it. A safety system (9) can be connected to the releasing member, which system results in the stopping of the lift in the case that the load in the towing direction acting on the horizontal portion (V) exceeds the allowed value.Type: GrantFiled: March 27, 2002Date of Patent: September 6, 2005Inventors: Esa Aaltonen, Esa Bergström, Kari Juvonen

Patent number: 6886471Abstract: A traveling highline aerial cable rail system for moving objects over large distances in three-dimensional space. A pair of track dollies mounted beneath substantially parallel and distantly separated support trusses allow the entire load bearing highline itself to traverse X-axis space. The highline defines the Y-axis of the system and supports a skate that moves along this axis. A platform suspended from the skate moves vertically in the Z-axis and can support extremely heavy loads depending on the gauge of the rope used in the system. A three motor pulley system with a multiplicity of sheaves allow independent movement of all three axes. The system can move objects weighing thousands of pounds stably at 60 miles per hour or more through three-dimensional space. The system can be modularly widened along the X-axis by adding truss sections, and the highline can be configured to up to 1000 feet or more, using rope that can support several tons or more.Type: GrantFiled: February 18, 2003Date of Patent: May 3, 2005Assignee: Cablecam International Inc.Inventor: James Lewis Rodnunsky
