Equalized Trolleys Patents (Class 105/152)
  • Patent number: 8001907
Abstract: An easer rail is mated with the uncut web of a fixed running rail to form a more rigid thermal expansion joint between the fixed rail and a moveable rail. The easer rail has an extension that protrudes into the uncut web the fixed rail. The easer rail extension is machined to be complementary in shape to the uncut web and fits tightly against the flange, the underside of the head, and the base of the uncut web of the fixed rail. Bolt holes are provided through the extension and the easer rail, its extension, and the fixed rail to form multiple bolt joints. The bolted extension not only lengthens the easer rail but locks it in place between the head and base of the fixed rail to provide additional rigidity.

  • Patent number: 6216602
Abstract: A balance control mechanism for an overhead traveling carrier includes a movable section disposed on a carrier body at a position below the fulcrum of a traveling wheel of the carrier such that the movable section can be moved laterally of the carrier body to thereby displace the center of gravity of the movable section laterally of the carrier body, a gravity center moving unit for moving the center of gravity of the movable section with respect to the carrier body, and a balance control unit for calculating a balancing position at which the center of gravity of the movable section is to be placed so that the moment of a centrifugal force turning around the fulcrum with an axis lying in a direction of travel of the carrier and applied to the carrier in its entirety upon travel of the carrier over a curved portion of the rail is counterbalanced by the moment of gravity, and then controlling the gravity center moving unit to cause the center of gravity of the movable section to be moved to the balancing positi

  • Patent number: 5372072
Abstract: A transportation system comprises a continuous stationary track having a pair of opposed rigid bearing surfaces, and a plurality of discrete cantilevered load-carrying vehicle units movable beside said track. Each vehicle is coupled to the track by a bogie having a linear arrangement of bogie wheels running between the bearing surfaces. The bogie wheels are mounted on mutually articulated frames and have a diameter slightly less than the separation of the opposed bearing surfaces to allow limited pivoting movement of the frames within the track. The adjacent articulated frames are forcibly urged to pivot in opposite directions within the track between the bearing surfaces such that bogie wheels carried thereby forcibly and alternately engage the respective opposed bearing surfaces at at least three points to ensure a pro-loaded positive coupling between the bogie and the track.

  • Patent number: 5222439
Abstract: A conveyor system (10) with a suspended rail (11) on which run trolleys (12) having an upper drive wheel (13) and lower bucking rollers (15,16). The wheel and the rollers are rigidly fixed relative to one another. Each trolley (12) has a geometry such as to cause a rotation moment around the upper wheel (13) when the trolley traverses sloped sections of rail to increase the force of contact or traction of the driving wheel (13) on the rail. The rail (11) has a cross section of variable thickness along its length so that the distance between the wheel and the rollers is uniform on the curves between straight horizontal and sloping sections.

  • Patent number: 5069141
Abstract: A freight system comprising a conveyor adapted to be driven along a monorail track. A frictional drive wheel of the conveyor engages the upper side of the track and various embodiments of reactive force creating means are positioned to engage the underside of the track to create improved frictional forces during ascendancy. All of these embodiments employ the weight of the unit to create the reactional force and in all embodiments there are positioned a pair of spaced apart guide rollers that engage the underside of the track. In some embodiments, these guides rollers are resiliently biased by either separate springs or by making the guide rollers themselves resilient. In some embodiments there is provided an intermediate fixed guide roller to limit the degree of relative movement between the conveyor and the track. In one embodiment, the guide rollers are suspended by a Y shaped lever that itself carries the load transmitted by the conveyor.

  • Patent number: 4593789
Abstract: A tree or the like climbing platform wherein a platform is raised or lowered over a tree trunk by a supporting member extending from the platform to surround the tree at the opposite side of the platform. Guide rollers extend from the supporting member and the platform for contacting the tree trunk. There is provided a tree trunk engaging plate extending from the platform which is in biased engagement with the tree trunk for holding penetration. The engaging plate is released from engagement by a foot pedal which is interconnected with the plate. The climbing apparatus also includes an adjustable strap connected to the platform and surrounds the tree trunk on the same side as the supporting member. It is adjustable so that the platform will remain level irrespective of the taper or diameter of the tree. The versatility of this climbing apparatus is seen in the fact that it can be raised or lowered by various devices including a winch.
