Inorganic Material Or Elemental Component Thereof, E.g., S, Metal, Etc. Patents (Class 106/14.21)
  • Patent number: 6190780
Abstract: Surface treated metal materials with corrosion-resistant coating layers composed mainly of oxyacid compounds of rare earth elements (lanthanum, cerium, etc.) or Group IVA elements (zirconium, etc.), oxyacids or mixtures thereof. The corrosion resistant coating layers may also contain resins. Also provided are corrosion resistant coating layers containing rare earth element and Group IVA element compounds in resin matrixes. The corrosion resistant coating layers, particularly inorganic layers, may be covered with resin layers.

  • Patent number: 6183547
Abstract: A composition for inhibiting corrosion of metal surfaces comprises permanganate and a very low concentration of chromium (VI). The concentration of chromium (VI) in the aqueous solution is less than about 100 micrograms per liter, and the concentration of permanganate is about 0.2% to about 20% by weight of the aqueous solution. In another embodiment of the invention, a composition for inhibiting corrosion of metal surfaces includes permanganate and acetic acid. The concentration of acetic acid in the aqueous solution is between about 0.2% and 2.0% by volume. The concentration of permanganate is about 0.2% to about 20% by weight of the aqueous solution. Other embodiments of the invention include methods of using the present sealant compositions and the resulting corrosion inhibited metal substrates. In yet another embodiment of the present invention there is provided a kit for preparing corrosion inhibiting solutions for metal treatment.

  • Patent number: 6174461
Abstract: A concrete sealer material is provided containing a corrosion inhibitor which is free to migrate upon leeching from the concrete sealer. The inhibitor retards the rate of corrosion of reinforcements contained within the concrete, including metallic mesh, grid, rebar, and other metallic articles utilized for reinforcement. The sealer material is preferably a film forming component of silicate or silane modified siloxanes. The corrosion inhibitor is preferably an amine salt, an amino alcohol, alkalized salt of glucoheptonates, or, calcium nitrite and mixtures thereof. A compatibility enhancer of an aminoalkyl silane can be added to the blend.
