Patent number: 5158609Abstract: An improved water based aerosol paint is particularly well-suited for use in site marking applications. Its high content of calcium carbonate provides a support for the pigment and resin film. A straight chain, low molecular weight hydrocarbon with between 5 and 8 carbons is used to control foaming.Type: GrantFiled: March 18, 1991Date of Patent: October 27, 1992Assignee: Aervoe Pacific Company, Inc.Inventor: Paul J. O'Neill

Patent number: 5008378Abstract: A lignin dispersion of submicron particles with film forming, binding, and adhesive properties in which the median particle diameter of the lignin in dispersion preferably is less than about 300 angstroms. The aqueous dispersion is formed by reacting about 12 to 18% lignin by weight in aqueous solution with from about 2 to 15 moles ammonia, 4 to 12 moles formaldehyde, and 0.25 to 1.25 moles sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide at a temperature of at least about 150.degree. F. for a period of time to produce a colloidal dispersion of lignin particles.Type: GrantFiled: October 23, 1989Date of Patent: April 16, 1991Assignee: Westvaco CorporationInventor: Mitchell S. Patent number: 4983257Abstract: An invert size for the engine and tub sizing of paper. It contains an aqueous dispersion of a fortified, unfortified, hydrogenated, or disproportionated and optionally esterified rosin or mixture of such rosins and of a dispersant that contains digested casein or an emulsifier of the general formula[R--(OCH.sub.2 CH.sub.2).sub.n --O--A].sub.x.sup.- M.sup.X+(I)wherein R is an alkylphenyl, alkyl, or alkenyl group or a cycloalkyl group with condensed rings, A is a group with the formula --CH.sub.2 COO or --SO.sub.3, M.sup.x+ is a cation, x is 1 or 2, and n is a number such that approximately 21 to 76% of the molecular weight of the anion is in the --OCH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 group. To allow sizing control, the dispersant also contains cationic starch.Type: GrantFiled: January 9, 1989Date of Patent: January 8, 1991Assignee: Klebstofwerke Collodin Dr. Schultz & Nauth GMBHInventors: Wolf-Stefan Schultz, Uwe Beyer
