Abstract: A photocatalytic functional film has a structure of a substrate, a barrier layer and a photocatalytic layer stacked one on another. Abstract: Disclosed are the use of novel surfactants for the synthesis of emulsion polymer latexes, particularly those used in paints, coatings, and pressure sensitive adhesives. The surfactant compositions for emulsion polymer latexes comprise sterically bulky surfactants whose composition comprises at least one alkoxylated polyaryl substituted aromatic sulfosuccinate compound. The novel surfactants provide for the production of stable, small particle size distribution emulsion polymer latexes. The resulting latexes, when formulated into latex paint, impart improvements in water resistance as measured by film opacity, blister resistance and improved leveling characteristics, and when formulated into pressure sensitive adhesives, provide improved water resistance characteristics as measured by film opacity.

Abstract: A solvent borne brushable coating composition having improved sag resistance and process for using the same are provided. The composition includes a crosslinkable component having one or more polymers having two or more crosslinkable groups a crosslinking component comprising one or more crosslinking agents having crosslinking groups; and a sag control agent of polyurea in drying oil. When a layer a pot mix resulting from mixing of the crosslinkable and crosslinking components is brush applied over a substrate, it has high sag resistance, low brush drag while providing desired coating properties, such as high gloss and rapid cure even under ambient conditions. Abstract: The present invention relates to processes for making synthetic polyisoprene latex and synthetic polyisoprene condoms. A process for making a compounded synthetic polyisoprene latex suitable for making a latex film comprises (a) compounding a synthetic polyisoprene latex with suitable compounding ingredients, (b) maturing the latex and optionally (c) storing the latex; characterized in that steps (a), (b) and (c) if included are carried out at a low temperature so as to minimize prevulcanization of the latex. Abstract: The invention provides a biological dressing for treatment of a dermatological disease comprised of one or more resins or other film-forming agents, a topically acceptable volatile solvent, and a pharmacologically active agent. Methods are provided for treating symptoms of dermatological diseases with such a pharmacological composition.
Abstract: A method for producing de-colored shellac by dissolving colored shellac in an aqueous solution comprising an alkaline agent; contacting the colored shellac in the aqueous solution with a sufficient amount of a chlorite salt to achieve de-coloration of the shellac; precipitating the de-colored shellac by neutralizing the aqueous solution with an acid; and recovering the precipitated de-colored shellac from said aqueous solution. The de-colored shellac produced is non-toxic and suitable for human use. Dental compositions comprising the de-colored shellac are disclosed, as well as uses of the de-colored shellac as a food product coating, a nail polish or varnish, and a wood varnish.

Abstract: Phase change ink carrier compositions comprising an admixture of (1) at least one urethane resin; and/or (2) at least one mixed urethane/urea resin; and/or (3) at least one mono-amide; and/or (4) at least one polyethylene wax are provided. In addition, a phase change colored ink of such carrier compositions comprising a phase change ink compatible colorant are also provided. Embodiments of the present invention also include methods for producing a layer of the above phase change colored ink on the surface of a substrate by either direct or indirect printing. Such methods also encompassing using a polyethylene wax as an overcoat layer above such a phase change ink layer on a printed substrate.

Abstract: This invention relates to an elastomeric article with improved lubricity and donnablity and reduced stickiness/tackiness. According to the methods of the invention, the internal surface of the elastomeric article is coated with a polyisoprene coating. The coating of the invention is formed from synthetic polyisoprene rubber that may or may not contain minor amounts of other components. The coating is preferably directly bonded to the underlying elastomeric article.
