Abstract: A stripping-resistant asphalt composition comprising (A) an asphaltic material, (B) a reaction product of a maleic compound, such as maleic anhydride, and another organic compound, such as liquid polybutadiene, and (C) aggregate.
Abstract: A paving composition formed of aggregate mixed with substantially unblown asphalt cement (neither emulsified nor cut-back) including a soluble organic-manganese compound either alone or in combination with organic-cobalt or organic-copper compounds for improved strength. The composition is employed for paving roads by conventional techniques.

Abstract: A process for manufacturing homogeneous and low porosity carbon articles of great mechanical strength from a composition including a sinterable mother material and an additive selected from the group consisting of hydrocarbons, fatty acids, esters and salts of fatty acids, organic compounds having OH functional groups and mixtures thereof, wherein the mother material has an H/C atomic ratio of 0.3 to 0.75, a fixed carbon value of 55 to 96% and does not flow out of a 1 mm diameter nozzle at a temperature of 300.degree. C. under a load of 10 kg/cm.sup.2 ; and the additive has a fixed carbon value of 20% at most, a boiling or decomposition point of at least 150.degree. C. and becomes fluid at a temperature of at least 100.degree. C.
Abstract: A corrosion resistant coating composition is provided which is a one-quart system. The composition is an asphaltic-base material containing a petroleum sulfonate and a sufficient amount of an organic solvent to impart the desired viscosity. A source of amine groups, such as a polyamide resin, is added and the resulting composition has improved adherence to the metallic substrate.
Abstract: A composition for improving the ink receptivity of lithographic printing images comprises an organic solvent liquid capable of softening the surface of the printing image and a film forming alkali-resistant oleophilic material such as a liquid hydrocarbon solution of a normally solid hydrocarbon or fat. The composition is for use in the case where the printing image is formed by alkaline development of an image-wise exposed radiation sensitive coating such as a phenol formaldehyde resin in admixture with a sensitiser. The composition may be applied before exposure to form an alkali resistant oleophilic layer on the radiation sensitive coating or it may be applied after image-wise exposure but before alkali development.
Abstract: A paving composition comprising asphalt and micro-granular coal which are uniformly combined integrally with each other without thermal decomposition of said coal and a method for producing a paving composition which comprises triturating a mixture of asphalt and coal at a temperature below the thermal decomposition point of the coal thereby to reduce the diameter of the resulting micro-granular coal to 1 to 100.mu. and, at the same time, to achieve the uniform integral combination of asphalt and coal. Thereby, there is provided a paving composition which is excellent in thermal stability, weather resistance, adhesive property, sticking strength, viscoelasticity and workability. Moreover, besides the main components, asphalt and coal, various modifying agents or additives may be further incorporated so that the properties of the paving composition can be further improved.
