Abstract: A heat-sensitive color-developing composition containing a hydroxyquinoline compound having a methyl group and an acid anhydride compound represented by general formula (1): wherein ring A represents a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic hydrocarbon ring, and n represents an integer of 1 to 3, and a heat-sensitive recording material containing the composition in a recording layer.
Abstract: The invention describes a color-developing composition that contains at least three major components: (1) a leuco dye or a combination of leuco dyes, (2) an color-developer or a combination of color-developers that can form colored complexes with the leuco dyes, and (3) a desensitizer to temporarily remove the effect of the developer so the leuco dye appears in its colorless form. An optional binder may be included so that the composition may be applied to a substrate as an ink. The ink composition may be applied to synthetic polymeric substrates and other substrates that are incorporated into absorbent articles or personal care products.

Abstract: The present invention pertains to a reversible thermochromic system comprising a ?-phenylvinylketone or a ?-phenyl polyacetylenyl ketone with at least one acidic hydrogen and a base and to a reversible thermochromic composition comprising the reversible thermochromic system and a carrier material and to novel substituted ?-phenylvinylketones or ?-phenyl polyacetylenyl ketones with at least one acidic hydrogen.
Abstract: Compositions and methods for production of color images having increased light stability and reduced browning are described. The color forming composition can include a leuco dye, an infrared absorber, and at least one of a stabilizer and an anti-fade agent. The color forming compositions can be stabilized such that less than about a 30% decrease in optical density occurs over a three year period. The stabilizers can include chroman, thiolane-nickel complexes, spiroindanes, while suitable anti-fade agents can include vitamin E, vitamin E analogs, astaxanthin, chroman, ascorbic acid, carotene, and mixtures thereof. The color forming compositions are ambient light stable and are useful in forming images on a wide variety of substrates such as optical disks.

Abstract: A monophase solid solution comprising a plurality of color formers selected from the group consisting essentially of the fluoran type, phthalide type, phenoxazine type, phenothiazine type, rhodamine lactam type, leuco-auramine type, triphenylmethane type, spiropyran type, benzoxazine type, quinazoline type of color formers and mixtures thereof, preferably wherein the color forming materials are selected from the fluoran and phthalide type of color former and mixtures thereof.
Abstract: A thermally sensitive recording medium having sufficient color developing density and which develops russet or wine red color. The recording medium incorporates a dye precursor which includes at least one red color developing leuco dye having a maximum absorption wavelength of 480 to 570 nm and at least one black color developing leuco dye with maximum absorption wavelengths at 420 to 480 nm and 550 to 640 nm. The color difference a* value of developed image of said thermally sensitive recording medium, measured according to JIS-Z-8729 is within the region of 0 to 50 and b* value is within the region of −15 to 10.
