Abstract: an ink set for ink-jet recording is provided defined by an evaluation indicator approximately corresponding to an evaluation sensed by human eyes without relying on a color difference (?E) or an optical density difference (?OD) at the time of evaluating long-term storage properties of the ink set for ink-jet recording. In the ink set for ink-jet recording which contains a yellow ink, a magenta ink and a cyan ink, values of hue angle change (?h), between before and after ozone resistance tests, of print regions corresponding to respective inks formed on glossy paper by using the yellow ink, the magenta ink and the cyan ink are not more than about 3° for the yellow ink, not more than about 2° for the magenta ink, and not more than about 6° for the cyan ink.

Abstract: An aggregation stabilizer is further added to an ink composition for inkjet recording which contains a colorant, a humectant, water, and a water-soluble substance that is condensation-polymerized in the absence of the water. With this aggregation stabilizer, a hardly-soluble or insoluble component formed by the colorant and the water-soluble substance is modified so as to be readily dissolved in water, whereby generation of an aggregate in the ink is prevented.

  • Patent number: RE39700
Abstract: Oxo anions (both singly and multiply charged), such as phosphates, polyphosphates, and phosphate esters, serve as additives, and in the case of cationic dyes, may serve as replacement counter-ions, for use in thermal ink-jet inks to reduce kogation significantly. The addition of such additive essentially eliminates kogation for the life of ink pens. Further, such additives will prevent kogation for inks containing dyes with negatively-charged water-solubilizing groups, such as sulfonate and carboxylate.
