Abstract: A method of cementing in a subterranean formation may comprise: introducing a cement composition comprising cement, water, and a lignite-based copolymer into a subterranean formation, wherein the lignite-based copolymer comprises a lignite backbone, a first grafted monomer selected from the group consisting of -acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid, a salt of 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid, and a second grafted monomer comprising N,N-dimethylacrylamide; and allowing the cement composition to set in the subterranean formation, wherein cement composition has a transition time of less than or equal to about 150 minutes.
Abstract: Asphalt-based compositions that contain little or no VOCs. The compositions are particularly useful for roofing applications, including as plastic roofing cement, flashing cement, roof coatings, and primers. The compositions include asphalt, a VOC-free solvent, a surfactant and clay. The compositions may also include fibers, technical or functional fillers, and a wet surface adhesion additive. The compositions may further include aluminum flakes for enhanced durability, strength, reflectivity and colorants for enhanced appearance.
Abstract: A protective coating is formed on a metallic material surface by applying a treating agent comprising water, an alkali silicate, and, optionally, a lubricating component to the surface and drying the treating agent. The coating film thereby formed has excellent anti-galling and rust preventive properties. If a lubricating component is present, the coating film also has excellent self-lubricating properties.

Abstract: The disclosure relates to temporary corrosion resistant coatings and films upon metal substrates, e.g., metal tools and dies. The temporary coatings and films will not adversely chemically alter the surface of the underlying substrate. The coatings/films comprise a mixture of at least one of an acrylic, water, an oil, silica, at least one silicate, surfactants and optionally one or more buffering materials and waxes.
