Organic Sulfur Compound Patents (Class 106/725)
  • Patent number: 4999056
Abstract: A shaped article with a binder matrix based on cement is prepared from a mix comprising the cement, water, and a concrete super-plasticizer, the weight ratio between the water and the cement being at the most 0.30, preferably at the most 0.25, arranging the mix in the desired configuration and allowing the mix to solidfy, in which mix the weight amount of water-soluble alkali in the mix originating from the mineral solids in the mix is reduced to at the most 0.30%, preferably at the most 0.25%, more preferably at the most 0.20%, calculated as Na.sub.2 O equivalents, relative to the weight of the cement in the mix. The mix preferably further contains a fine silica-rich powder. The mix has an advantageously high fluidity rendering it useful for the preparation of shaped articles.

  • Patent number: 4997487
Abstract: Set retarded cement compositions which are substantially non-thinning at high temperatures are provided. The compositions are comprised of hydraulic cement, sufficient water to form a pumpable slurry, a set retarder and a galactomannan gum which has been treated with a hydrophobing agent whereby the hydration rate of the gum is retarded at temperatures below about 120.degree. F. and at pH levels above about 10. The delayed hydration of the treated gum offsets the thinning of the cement compositions at temperatures above about 120.degree. F. Methods of cementing subterranean zones penetrated by well bores utilizing the cement compositions are also provided.

  • Patent number: 4992104
Abstract: The invention relates to the preparation of mortars and concretes in the presence of a water-reducing plasticizer. The plasticizer used is a surface-active compound containing at least one perfluoro group and at least one ionic or nonionic hydrophilic group. It is possible for these groups to be linked directly or via one or more divalent chain links.

  • Patent number: 4946505
Abstract: Coloring materials used in a process of dyeing concrete consist of pigment granules other than compacted or briquetted granules. The granules consist of one or more pigments, one or more binders for promoting the dispersing of the pigments in the concrete, and optional other additives. Such pigment granules, particularly bead granules, will easily dissolve in the concrete mixer and will be homogeneously dispersed in the concrete.

  • Patent number: 4946506
Abstract: An additive combination for hydraulic cement compositions is provided which advantageously provides corrosion inhibition and set acceleration, in combination with a high level of fluidity and retention of fluidity over a desired period of time. The cement additive combination comprises an alkali or alkaline earth metal nitrite and a graft copolymer plasticizer comprising a polyether backbone and side chain polymers formed by polymerization of ethylenically unsaturated monomers.Fluid hydraulic cement compositions are further provided comprising these additive combinations.

  • Patent number: 4931192
Abstract: A method for disposing of non-polar organic wastes including the steps of dissolving the organic waste in an organic solvent which is not environmentally objectionable, in combination with a suitable surfactant, mixing the resultant solution with a quantity of water to develop an emulsion in which the organic element is effectively dispersed in the water and thereafter mixing the emulsion with cement which, when allowed to solidify, encapsulates the organic waste within the solid cementitious mass. This solid mass is suitable for disposal in a landfill or the like. This invention is useful in safely disposing of environmentally hazardous organic wastes.
