    Abstract: A handicapped accessible work table having a horizontal transparent table top, with removable plant trays, cushioned arm rest edges, and vertical legs with caster wheels. The tabletop is supported by parallel identical one piece aluminum frames. Each frame is formed from bending an aluminum bar at several points. Each side frame has vertical legs that have upper portions that bend to form supports for the table top and an upwardly bent mid-section that passes through a slot in the table top. A cross-brace bar connects the top of the opposite upwardly bent mid-sections of each frame to give the table structural support above the tabletop. Thus, wheelchairs have no obstacles when positioned about and under the edges of the table. An ultraviolet light source can be connected to the cross-brace bar so that plantings in the trays can have an adequate light source for growth when the table is used for gardening. The tabletop can include a solid working surface.

    Abstract: A system for sturdily joining one or more supporting members to a solid wood surface, such as a table top or raised panel (e.g. a panel used for constructing a door), while minimizing distortion to the table top or door panel, is provided. Such structural assemblies producible in ready-to-assemble format are also provided. Brackets are rigidly connected to the supporting members or structure, but are each connected to the solid wood surface in two ways: (1) with a pin connection, which prevents translation in one or more directions and may prevent separation, and (2) with one or more sliding connections, which prevent separation but allow the solid wood surface to expand or contract freely in a direction perpendicular to that of the wood grain 0n the solid wood surface. The structural assembly produced with the resulting partially restrained connection is sturdy, yet permits the solid wood surface to remain free from distortion when it is subjected to changes in environment.

The means for securing, in turn, secures the connection between the main elements and the connecting elements. By selecting which main element openings have a connecting element inserted therein, a person can assemble the system into a number of different furniture pieces, including tables, chairs, and shelves.

    Abstract: An offset cantilevered support leg for a height adjustable desk which resists lateral forces is provided. Each support leg is connected to the underside of the desk top at the lateral ends thereof by an L-shaped bracket. A primary support arm provides the cantilevered support for the desk top while a secondary support arm, angularly offset from and generally oriented perpendicularly with respect to the primary support arm, provides support against lateral forces directed against the legs. By orienting each of the respective support arms of the L-shaped bracket with the rear corners of the work surface, the legs provide adequate support against vertical and horizontal loading while maximizing the available space underneath the desk, and thus eliminating the need for a horizontal stretcher between the cantilevered support leg.

    Abstract: A household refrigerator cabinet housing therein a plurality of vertically adjustable shelf assemblies each supporting a shelf for placing refrigerable items thereon. Each shelf assembly has a pair of cantilever arms with transverse clips on the front end for holding the front edge of a shelf, and hooks on the rear end for mounting the shelf assembly on a pair of ladder tracks attached to the rear wall of a refrigerator. A rigid wire spans the distance between the cantilever arms near their rear end and is rigidly connected thereto. A unitary shelf retainer having two perpendicularly disposed slots is press fit on the support wire. The first slot is defined by two walls extending in a converging manner from a third wall so as to firmly grasp the shelf when placed therein. The second slot is defined by two walls extending perpendicularly downwardly in a converging manner from the first slot and having spherical protrusions on their ends to firmly grasp the support wire when press fit thereon.
