  • Patent number: 11134772
Abstract: A support assembly for a table being mounted on a first wall includes a frame configured to be at least partially inserted in a cavity defined in a second wall. The table is movable between a stowed position and a deployed position. The support assembly includes at least one support arm rotatably coupled to the frame and movable through a plurality of positions between a retracted position and an extended position. A biasing member is operatively connected to the frame and configured to bias the support arm toward the retracted position, wherein the at least one support arm is configured to move from the retracted position to the extended position as the table moves from the stowed position to the deployed position. • Patent number: 9743775
Abstract: A foldout bed assembly with bifold doors is described. The assembly includes a first door that folds along a first seam to reduce the width of the first door. The first door is hingeably coupled with a first side wall such that the door and side wall can be folded together in an accordion fashion. The door and side wall combination can also be folded along a third seam that is perpendicular to the first and second seams. The third seam allows for reduction of the height of the unit. The foldout bed assembly includes a second door and second side wall that is similar in construction as the first door and first side wall (e.g., left and right doors). Each door and side wall combination can be shipped in a folded configuration for economic shipping. Upon delivery, the combination can be unfolded for quick and easy installation.

  • Patent number: 7100517
Abstract: An ergonomic work station for computer components or for other purposes that is especially adapted for use by an individual having decreased mobility due to back pain or other conditions. The work station includes a base that extends beneath a chair or bed. A support arm has counter weight on a first side of a pivotal mount and a work table on a second side of the pivotal mount. The support arm may be pivoted to place the table in a work position in front of a user or in vertical position to permit unobstructed egress from or ingress to the chair or bed. The counter weight allows for the support arm to be easily pivoted from the work position to the vertical position by application of only very light pressure.

  • Patent number: 6053117
Abstract: A retractable work table assembly for use with a housing such as an electrical panel is disclosed. The housing is mountable on a bracket to which a table member is slidably attached. The table member is formed from a flat plate which can have side panels around the perimeter to form a trough. The table member is attached to the upper end of the bracket via a biasing member, and is slidably movable between a retracted position in which the table member is positioned behind the housing, and an extended position in which the table member is positioned extending from the housing at a right angle. The table member can have a retaining member mounted on the flat plate for engaging the housing to retain the table member in the extended position.

  • Patent number: 5775034
Abstract: The disclosed apparatus and system provides for two or more interacting screens that have elements such as shelves, tables, desks, lamps, lights, beds, sinks, ranges or drawers stored within the appropriate screen, when not in use, and in most instances suspended from the appropriate screen or screens, when in use. The screens and most of the elements interrelate when in a fully set up configuration. The screens with elements in the stored configuration may be moved against a wall, into a space in the wall or into a closet. The screens with elements in a set up configuration are stabilized by interacting hinges, locks and stabilization legs. The screens are also interconnected with conduits to permit utility, electrical, water and communications connections to be available at the appropriate screen. The system provides a quickly and easily set up and stored environment for use as a work, play, privacy or sleep area. Some of the elements are designed to be free standing when in use.

  • Patent number: 5707126
Abstract: A self-retracting, wall-mounted desk and chart holder especially useful as a decentralized nurses' station is provided having a slim profile, compact construction, and being specifically designed for mounting on walls outside patient rooms. The chart holder includes a body having structure for defining a side entry storage slot of sufficient width to receive a medical chart standing on edge and extending parallel to the wall on which the chart holder is mounted. The slot is shorter than the chart so that a portion of the chart may project out beyond the slot and above the slot to make it visible at-a-glance. The chart holder further includes a desktop which is swingably attached to the body for movement of the desktop between a horizontal open position for use as a work surface, and a vertical closed position.

  • Patent number: 4883249
Abstract: A counterbalancing mechanism allows a weight or constant force to be counterbalanced for any practical linear range of travel, including means for effortlessly adjusting the mechanism for a constant force or load of any practical magnitude. A load support slides along an axis substantially passing through a fixed lower pivot point. The load support member is pivotally connected to the top end of an upper lever arm. The upper lever arm is pivotally connected by a horizontal link to the upper end of a lower lever arm that is pivotally connected to the fixed point. A pully that may swivel about its swivel axis embraces the axis and guides a cable connected to the horizontal link at one end to a spring assembly at the other end. The spring assembly may be adjusted.

  • Patent number: 4596196
Abstract: A folding table assembly includes enclosed gaseous power cylinders for assisting the folding and unfolding operations. The cylinders are mounted to the supporting legs so that their weights are not added to that of the table members to be lifted. The cylinders exert constant forces tending to fold the table, and they provide cushions to resist the table weight during the unfolding operation.

  • Patent number: 4201427
Abstract: A mechanism for positioning a sewing machine in a sewing machine cabinet includes an improved linkage attached to the cabinet and supporting a mounting platform for the sewing machine. The linkage permits movement of the platform between a storage position within the cabinet to either one of two horizontal operating positions. The linkage includes one pair of pivot arms connected from each side of the platform to a bracket suspended from the cabinet. Also one support pin projects from each side of the platform and cooperatively engages an associated positioner attached to the cabinet. The positioners retain the platform in either horizontal operating position. The platform may be tilted from the horizontal operating positions to release the support pins from the positioners and permit movement of the platform to another desired position.

  • Patent number: 4156391
Abstract: The top of a table such as a drafting table which may be adjustable in its elevation, is counterbalanced by counterbalancing elements exerting an approximately constant balancing force. The counterbalancing elements comprise at least one leaf spring forming a bow inserted between the table top and a counter abutment below the table top so that the leaf spring or springs is biassed to form said bow, whereby the load on the bow has a tendency to cause a lateral flexure of the bow. The arrangement is such, that the downwardly directed force component caused by the weight of the table top and the pressure exerted by the bent leaf spring or springs, are directed opposite to each other.
