Patent number: 5026114Abstract: A wheelchair tray assembly is provided which includes a horizontal tray and a vertical rod for pivotally mounting the tray to the leg of the wheelchair. A tubular member is mounted to the wheelchair leg for receiving the rod in a manner which allows the pivotal movement of the tray from in front of an individual in the wheelchair to an out of use position to the side of a wheelchair. The tray is preferably releasably coupled to the rod so that it can be selectively removed from the wheelchair for cleaning or transport of goods thereon. A locking mechanism can be provided so as to prevent inadvertent removal of the tray from the rod.Type: GrantFiled: March 20, 1990Date of Patent: June 25, 1991Assignee: Tasrop, Inc.Inventor: Robert L. Patent number: 5009379Abstract: A stand for supporting a television receiver or other large object at the end of a conventional bed or waterbed. The stand is a very simple, preferably one-piece unit that has a lower base which fits under the mattress, which base is joined to an upper ledge that supports the television receiver. No assembly of the stand is necessary, and no fasteners are required to attach the stand to the bed.Type: GrantFiled: June 21, 1990Date of Patent: April 23, 1991Inventor: Thomas E. Sadler

Patent number: 4861102Abstract: Tray assembly for attachment to folding chairs and other supporting structures. The tray assembly includes a base adapted to be mounted on a supporting structure, a support arm which is mounted on the base, and a tray which is mounted on the support arm. The support arm has first and second cylindrical mounting pins which are received in tight frictional engagement in semi-cylindrical mounting ferrules on the base and the tray. The pins can be rotated within the ferrules to move the support arm and table to different angular positions relative to the base and the support arm, with the support arm and the table being held securely in the different positions by the frictional engagement between the pins and the ferrules.Type: GrantFiled: March 1, 1989Date of Patent: August 29, 1989Inventor: Jerald W. Fuller

Patent number: 4836113Abstract: Detachable trays for water beds having wooden side rails and headboards wherein the trays include one or more shelves or support surfaces which are vertically oriented with respect to one another and wherein the lowermost shelf or support surface includes an enlarged surface portion and a reduced surface portion which cooperate with mounting legs extending from the enlarged surface portion so as to enable the trays to be slideably engaged along the full length of the bed side rails with portions of the lowermost shelf being extendable beyond the headboard when the trays are positioned in close proximity to the headboard.Type: GrantFiled: February 25, 1988Date of Patent: June 6, 1989Inventors: Troy Waddell, Jerry Walker

Patent number: 4702176Abstract: A shelf construction for use with an elevating type of hospital bed is disclosed. The shelf construction includes an upper bracket having a depending flange for removably resting upon the rail of the bed. A shelf is pivotally interconnected with the bracket through front and rear links to permit angular adjustment of the shelf relative to changes in angularity of the rail to thereby maintain the shelf in level orientation. One of the links is provided with an elongated, longitudinally aligned slot to facilitate the angular adjustment of the shelf relative to the upper bracket. In a second embodiment of the invention, the shelf and the upper bracket are affixed in a preselected angular offset relationship to allow the shelf to be angularly offset from the rail of the bed.Type: GrantFiled: August 25, 1986Date of Patent: October 27, 1987Inventor: Henry M. Goshow

Patent number: 4512607Abstract: Detachably mounted patient serving trays. A pair of laterally extensible handle members are slidably mounted at opposite ends of a base member that provides a support surface for food or other items disposed thereatop. Clamping members specifically designed to releasably engage tubular structures are fixedly secured and depend to each handle member so that preselected tubular portions of a bed, chair, wheelchair, or other bodily support structure may be releasably engaged by such clamping members. The handle members are positionable in an infinite plurality of functional positions of adjustment so that the tray may be used in conjunction with bodily support structures of differing sizes and shapes. The design also permits storage of the tray on the frame of any bodily support structure of tubular construction.Type: GrantFiled: April 11, 1983Date of Patent: April 23, 1985Inventor: Edward D. Rapp

Patent number: 4404698Abstract: A tray assembly is provided particularly for utilization with a nursing home bed or the like. The tray includes a substantially flat support surface that gently slopes downwardly from the head portion to the foot portion of the tray, with a vertical lip upstanding from the support surface around the entire tray circumference. A pair of U-shaped rods are provided for mounting the tray on supporting rails of varying spacings, clips of flexible material being mounted on cross portions of the U-shaped rods to attach to appropriate rail sections. The bed toe board mounts rail sections that also can receive the tray so that the tray covers the toe board when not in use.Type: GrantFiled: September 18, 1980Date of Patent: September 20, 1983Assignee: Burlington Industries, Inc.Inventors: Joseph A.
